BetRivers Sportsbook Signs Broadcasting Icon Dan O'Toole as Ambassador

Canadian broadcaster Dan O’Toole is the latest brand ambassador for BetRivers Sportsbook, Rush Street Interactive (RSI) announced on Thursday.

Dan O’Toole and BetRivers Not Strangers

O’Toole is familiar with the BetRivers brand after appearing in a series of television ads that aired in Canada during the 2022 Winter Olympics. Earlier this year, O’Toole started hosting Boomsies!, a weekly podcast about sports and life.

"Joining BetRivers and hosting Boomsies! is a terrific way for me to continue to do what I love and to engage with sports fans," O'Toole said in a media release. "With BetRivers.ca's live launch in Ontario this week, this is an exciting moment in the evolution of sports betting here in Canada and a great opportunity for me to provide commentary and share my passion for sports with my fellow Canadians, as well as in other markets throughout the U.S. where BetRivers has sportsbooks."

O’Toole has been a media figure in Canada for more than two decades, including a long tenure as a sports anchor on Canada’s TSN Sportscentre. He also worked at Fox Sports 1 in Los Angeles, California.

"Dan O'Toole has had a tremendous broadcasting career in Canada," Richard Schwartz, CEO of RSI, said in a media release. "Having him join our BetRivers team to create content and produce podcasts is bringing a new level of expertise and entertainment to our betting family."

New episodes of the Boomsies! podcast are available each Wednesday on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and a video version on YouTube with the BetRivers Network.

BetRivers Live in Canada

RSI, which operates the BetRivers Sportsbook, officially launched in Canada on Monday when Ontario sports betting went live.

The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) granted RSI a license to operate its sportsbook on March 10, allowing RSI to complete the necessary requirements in order to launch on April 4.

"The receipt of our registration in Ontario is an important milestone that demonstrates our commitment to operating only in legalized markets where we pay local taxes, and we are grateful for the trust of the AGCO," Schwartz said in a media release in March.

"We are now one step closer to launching the BetRivers real-money online casino and sportsbook in Ontario and bringing our unique betting options, such as our innovative peer-to-peer slot tournaments or same game parlays, fast payouts, and award-winning customer service to the province’s millions of residents. Our free-to-play social gaming platform has experienced strong traction in Ontario to date, and we look forward to offering those players similarly entertaining and responsible experiences when our real-money offerings come April 4."

Before April 4, RSI already had a gaming presence in Ontario with its free-to-play social gaming platform, CASINO4FUN. The same technology powers RSI’s real-money platforms such as its online sportsbook and online casino.
