Caesars Entertainment is on the move in Nevada, with a new mobile sports betting app and casino renovations. The improved Caesars Sportsbook app is soon to be launched in Nevada. And a renovated casino dome is attracting attention at the landmark Caesars Palace hotel-casino on the Strip. Another of the company’s properties on the Strip, Bally’s, is restoring a classic Las Vegas casino name, the Horseshoe.

Improved Sportsbook App

Later this year, Nevadans using the Caesars Sportsbook by William Hill app will be transitioned to an advanced Caesars Sportsbook app, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

The Caesars Sportsbook casino app will include improvements such as quicker payouts and more betting options, “greatly enhancing the customer experience,” said Caesars Digital co-president Eric Hession. Among the options will be same-game parlay betting

The new Caesars Sportsbook app already is in use in some North American jurisdictions. The company also operates on-site casino sportsbooks across the U.S.

New Dome At Caesars Palace

On the Las Vegas Strip, Caesars Palace last week unveiled a renovated interior dome with a chandelier costing more than $1 million just for the crystals, the newspaper reported.

The lighted dome is above the gaming floor near the front entrance. Other upgrades also have taken place at the resort, including renovations in the lobby.

Sinatra Part Of Caesars History

Caesars Palace has a storied history dating to its opening in August 1966. Long before the resort came under corporate management, its construction was financed in part with a $10.5 million Teamsters loan. Mob-connected labor leader Jimmy Hoffa, who helped secure the loan, attended the grand opening, wearing a bow tie and formal attire.

Singer Frank Sinatra is among the many entertainers who have performed at Caesars Palace. In 1981, upon being granted a gaming license again, Sinatra was to serve as a $20,000-a-week Caesars Palace entertainment and public relations consultant, according to the New York Times. This was in addition to the $250,000 he was being paid to perform.

Sinatra had lost his gambling license in 1963 after Chicago mobster Sam Giancana was seen visiting singer Phyllis McGuire at Sinatra’s Cal Neva Lodge at Lake Tahoe.

Caesars Palace in Las Vegas also has been featured in movies and television shows, including the popular HBO series “The Sopranos.” In one episode, fictional New Jersey Mob boss Tony Soprano (James Gandolfini) plays roulette at Caesars Palace under the gaming-floor dome.

Caesars Palace also is remembered as the casino where motorcycle daredevil Evel Knievel crash landed in 1967 after soaring over the water fountains at the front of the property. He was hospitalized in the incident.

Horseshoe Brand Returns

In addition to renovations at Caesars Palace, the company is upgrading Bally’s hotel-casino on the east side of the Strip and rebranding it as the Horseshoe. The multimillion-dollar renovation is expected to be completed this year.

For years, a casino in downtown Las Vegas operated by Texan Benny Binion was named the Horseshoe. That casino is still in operation but now is called Binion’s, though the Binion family no longer owns it. The property is owned by TLC Casino Enterprises.

Caesars Entertainment acquired the Horseshoe name and the World Series of Poker, made famous at Benny Binion’s downtown casino.

For the first time ever, the World Series of Poker took place this year on the Strip. It was held at properties under the Caesars Entertainment umbrella, Bally’s and Paris Las Vegas. The tournament ended in July.

Poker pro Espen Jorstad of Norway won the $10 million first-prize main event.
