Craps is one of the most superstitious table games at the casino, so if you're looking to try out your online skills in a real life arena sometime soon, there are a few traditions that you should be on the lookout for. You may not believe in them yourself, but it’s important to be aware of the do's and don'ts of Craps betting if you want to avoid becoming extremely unpopular with your fellow gamblers.

1. Betting Against the Pass

Based more on karma and goodwill than luck, many people frown on a player who bets 1, as these bets are placed against the other players. Some even believe that as more people bet against them, their chances of winning start to reduce, and they may take their revenge when your turn comes around.

2. Lady Luck

If you’re a female player trying Craps for the first time, you might find people flocking to bet on your rolls - some think that lady luck favours the first rolls of a female Craps player. Sadly, the opposite is true for males, so don't be offended if the other players don't back you at the start.

3. Hands Up

If the die hit another player's hand during the roll, many Craps aficionados believe that the next result will be jinxed. With this in mind, make sure you always keep your hands off the table once a roll has started - it might not change your own luck, but it could prevent conflict with other players and keep them on your side.

4. Die Leaving the Table

It’s often believed that if the die leave the table, the next roll with a fresh set will be the start of an unlucky streak. When this happens, some shooters insist on using the same die that left the table in order to counter the bad luck and keep the wins flowing.

5. Talking to the Shooter

It’s considered bad luck to talk to or even touch the shooter when they’re having a good run, so even if you know them well, it's best to keep quiet until their turn is over.

6. Don’t Speak of the Devil

Some players refer to the number seven as "the devil", whilst others just call it "it". Whatever your name for it, actually saying the word seven during a game of Craps is considered extremely bad luck.

7. Counting Chips at the Table

Not only is this considered bad form, but some believe that it also taints the good fortune of the whole table. If you're in desperate need to count your stack, either move away from the table or be discrete.

As you can see, Craps betting is one of the most superstitious activities you'll encounter in a land-based casino. If you're concerned about ruining the luck of your table and want to practice first, head over to Winner Casino and try it out online without the risk of making a bad luck faux pas.
