The Calgary Flames and the Dallas Stars look to continue building their positive momentum heading into the All-Star break when the clash at the American Airlines Center in Dallas with the puck set to drop at 8:35 p.m. ET today.

The Flames are coming off a hard-fought 1-0 overtime home win Saturday against the Vancouver Canucks as -194 moneyline favourites.

They rank 12th in the NHL scoring with an average of 3.15 goals per game, second averaging 35.93 shots per game, 11th converting 21.8% of their power play scoring opportunities, and second allowing an average of 2.48 goals per game.

The Stars are coming off a big-time 6-1 home win over the Boston Bruins priced as +118 moneyline home underdogs.

They rank 11th scoring an average of 2.95 goals per game, 17th averaging 30.76 shots per game, fourth converting 26.2% of their power play scoring opportunities, and 20th allowing 3.00 goals per game.

Each of these teams have earned 48 points and are in the playoff mix heading into the break.

The Stars have won five of their past six games and Calgary is 3-1-0, and has two more games before the break starts this weekend. So, this matchup takes on heightened importance with the season more than half completed.

The Stars had five players score a goal in the win against Boston. Tyler Sequin scored and had an assist and ended a three-game point drought. He has been playing well, though, with five goals and four assists over his past seven games. Sequin has 14 goals and is one of five Stars players with at least 10 or more goals on the season.

The Stars’ defense has been the best all season allowing just a single goal in three of their past four games. So, they are in position to notch another win tonight. Still, is this where you should put your NHL betting wager?

The Stars Dominance of the Flames

The Stars have dominated the series against the Flames recently, earning an 8-1-1 record over the past 10 meetings. Most recently, the Stars defeated the Flames 4-3 in Calgary as +125 underdogs back on Nov. 4. The Stars have won the past four meetings and have outscored the Flames 18 to 11. The Stars have gotten 31 assists to the Flames 17 assists over these four games.

The Analytics Point to a Best Bet Opportunity

Betting on teams using the moneyline that are coming off a blowout win of four or more goals and are playing against an opponent that is coming off a low scoring affair in which both teams scored no more than one goal has earned them a 60-31 record for 66% winners averaging a +100-moneyline bet and making the $100 bettor a $2,975 profit spanning 25 seasons.

With the Stars coming off the 6-1 win over Boston and the Flames coming off the 1-0 overtime win, this betting angle targets the Dallas Stars as a solid moneyline betting opportunity tonight.
