Betting Odds: Blue Jays Face Twins In AL Wild Card Series
After an odd up-and-down regular season, the Toronto Blue Jays open their three-game American League Wild Card series against the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday.
Game time is 4:38 p.m. ET, with Kevin Gausman on the hill for the Jays (12-9, 3.16 ERA, 237 strikeouts) and Pablo Lopez for the Twins (11-8, 3.66 ERA, 234 SOs).
The Wild Card series winner faces the Houston Astros in the AL Division Series.
Betting Odds
According to NorthStar Bets, the Jays have the shortest odds of any road team in the MLB playoffs on Tuesday – 1.95, with the Twins at 1.89 (Texas 2.28, Arizona 2.55, Miami 2.35).
At the theScore Bet, the moneyline is Jays 1.91, Twins 1.91. This appears to show that bettors have confidence in Gausman.
At DraftKings Sportsbook, the Jays have 95% of the handle and 92% of bets to win the Wild Card series.
Player Props
The Jays’ Bo Bichette is a popular player prop at DraftKings, given the fact that he’s hitting .310 versus the Twins this season, with 27 hits, 12 RBI and 49 total bases.
So Bichette 3+ total bases, 2+ hits, 1+ RBI and the Jays to win (6.75) is getting a lot of action there, a spokesperson said.
While Gausman probably won’t win the AL Cy Young Award this season, he has been in the conversation (following the Yankees’ Gerrit Cole, the Mariners’ Luis Castillo and the Twins’ Sonny Gray), and bettors are still showing him a lot of respect on the player prop front for today’s game, according to BetMGM Sportsbook.
Gausman ranks among most prop bets for Over 15.5 outs (1.77). Other most active props bets at BetMGM on Tuesday are Zach Wheeler Under 6.5 strikeouts (1.87), Corbin Burnes Over 15.5 outs (1.67), William Contreras Over 1.5 total hits, runs and RBI (1.77) and Jesus Luzardo Over 5.5 strikeouts (1.83).
Gausman Over 6.5 strikeouts is also getting a lot of action (1.83).
