Canada's Brooke Henderson One to Watch at the LPGA Chevron
Brooke Henderson has experienced success at the Chevron Championship throughout her career, highlighted in 2020 when she recorded a runner-up finish.
In eight tries, she’s finished in the Top 20 six times, including in her last four outings at the event.
How do the golf betting sites see Henderson? We'll break it down.
Brooke Henderson, LPGA Adjusting to New Course
Henderson and the rest of the LPGA field will have to adjust to the event at a new location for the first time.
Since the tournament gained major championship status in 1983, it was played at Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California.
Jack Nicklaus’ Signature Course at the Club at Carlton Woods in The Woodlands, Texas, is the new host.
The par-72 course plays to 6,800 yards and will test golfers’ ability to hit approach shots into the green from narrow and difficult angles.
Water is also present on half of the holes, and strategically-placed bunkers will penalize wayward tee shots and approaches into the greens.
How Brooke Henderson has Been Playing this LPGA Season
It’s been an up-and-down season for Henderson to this point. She won the first tournament she entered this year at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions before settling for T-44 and T-48 finishes at the Honda LPGA Thailand and HSBC Women’s World Championship.
She then missed the cut at the LPGA Drive on Championship, but she enters this week with better form after taking 11th at the Lotte Championship last weekend.
Henderson is coming off her best single season at the majors. In 2022, she won The Evian Championship for the second major title of her career and also added a T-7 finish at the Women's Open, T-13 at the Chevron and also had top 20 finishes at the U.S. Open (T-15) and PGA Championship (T-16).
Henderson switched her equipment over to TaylorMade this year and already saw the switch pay dividends in her first start with the new gear. She won the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament by four strokes for her 13th LPGA victory.
“All parts of the game were working really well this week, which doesn't always happen, so it was really nice to benefit from that and be able to hoist this trophy,” Henderson said after the win in January. “I’m really happy I made the switch to TaylorMade, and hopefully the success just continues.”
