Canada vs. Bahrain: Three Bets to Make for the Canadians
Canada will play two more games before it starts World Cup Group F play Nov. 23 against Belgium. It faces Bahrain on Friday, followed by a final preparation game against Serbia next week.
Following are our three bets for Canada's game against Bahrain.
Our two selections on a parlay is +2398 with FanDuel.
Jonathan David to Score*
Although odds are not currently out for the goal-scorers in the game because of lineup uncertainty, we expect Jonathan David will get another goal in the midst of his sensational season with Lille in France.
In fact, only Neymar and Kylian Mbappé with Paris Saint-Germain have scored more than David in Ligue 1 this season, as the Canadian has nine goals in 14 games, along with three assists. David enters the game with a 62% shot accuracy percentage a record of one goal per 138 minutes played.
We think he’ll score again as he closes in on Cyle Larin’s top-scorer record for Canada.
Canada to be Winning at Halftime
Although Canada has only won two of its past five games after securing a World Cup berth against Jamaica, it led at halftime in both those wins. Canada beat Curaçao 4-0 in the Nations League and was up 2-0 at the break. It went on to beat Qatar, as David and Larin scored the game's only goals before halftime.
At the same time, Bahrain is not exactly intimidating. It's 85th in the FIFA world rankings and it lost its last two games to Cape Verde and Panama, and it was losing at halftime to Panama in a 2-0 defeat.
Canada will be eager to win after a poor run, and we expect them to come flying out of the blocks.
Canada to Win 3-0
In line with the idea that Canada should win this game easily, we think a 3-0 win is a sensible bet. Should it be leading at halftime, Canada likely will make some changes at the break to allow for minutes on the field for others, as the World Cup is just two weeks away.
Worryingly, Alphonso Davies will not play here after he came off with an injury in a recent game for Bayern Munich. This will take away a huge goal threat for Canada, but Larin is still likely to play and will be eager to score, with David closing in on his goal-scoring record for the national team.
Either way, Bahrain is weak and it should be an easy game for Canada.
