CFL Betting Advice: Can An East Division Team Get A Win?
Welcome to the second week of the 2022 CFL season in the race for the Grey Cup.
Let’s get down to business with this weekend's schedule, starting with the East Division, where the four teams are winless.
Montreal and Toronto, two East Division teams, play each other Thursday. While the Montreal Alouettes lost a tough one to the Calgary Stampeders last week, Toronto got an extra week to prepare. The Argonauts are the only team in the division yet to play a game. Thus Toronto technically also is winless.
Montreal’s defense looked a little ragged last week against a Calgary team that made some unexpected mistakes. It did not help that Montreal owner Gary Stern put a little bulletin board material out there, saying, “I think we’re going to kill Toronto on Thursday."
Barring a tie, an East Division team will win.
Montreal and Toronto could be close, so watch for Toronto to win by a 1-6 point prop at 5.00.
Game of the Week
Calgary Stampeders 1.98 at Hamilton Tiger-Cats 1.85
This matchup should be a lot of fun, as Calgary tries to tighten up its defense after last week’s lackluster showing against Montreal. The Stampeders were fortunate to score 30 points and escape with a win.
Hamilton’s game last week against the Saskatchewan Roughriders was not close, as the Roughriders handed the Ti-Cats a 17-point defeat. The game felt like Hamilton was never in it.
Hamilton wants to even the record at home and will make the necessary adjustments this week. Expect a much better defensive effort as the two teams battle it out in a possible slugfest.
Hamilton -1 point at 1.91 offers a better reward than betting the Over-Under, which dropped from 46.5 to 45.0.
Best Bet of the Week
Saskatchewan Roughriders 1.32 at Edmonton Elks 3.55
Edmonton will attempt to fix some of its problems, but there are many on both side of the ball, as was evident last week in a 59-15 loss to the B.C. Lions.
Edmonton playing at home is the only thing that could keep this week’s game against Saskatchewan from getting out of hand.
The Roughriders can put points on the board. Saskatchewan's offense scored 30 against Hamilton in the season opener.
The Over in this game is only 50 points, and that may just be a wager to look at for Canadian sports bettors.
