Edmonton Tries to Stay Alive and Toronto Tries to ... Wait Don't Say It; How Should You Bet?
We have four Game 6’s on the NHL slate tonight and the Toronto Maple Leafs are among the teams that can advance.
The Edmonton Oilers will try to avoid elimination. Let’s dive straight in and give a few more quick picks to help you with your NHL betting.
Calgary Waited For A Little But Delivered A Win
It was not an epic, beautiful victory for the Calgary Flames on Wednesday night. Simply, it was a win. The Flames fell behind 1-0 early to Dallas before Mikael Backlund tied it up in pretty short order. After that jolt to the solar plexus from the Stars, Calgary dominated most of the rest of Game 5.
The game also featured an appearance in the boxscore from Andrew Mangiapane. The winger scored a bunch of goals on the road early in the season but got better and better at home. His tally midway through the third period proved to be the game-winner. Trevor Lewis then added an insurance marker late (the empty netter). That gave Calgary the win and the puckline triumph.
Thankfully, the Under came through as well. These types of games often get tighter and tighter with scoring at a premium. Not all series are created equal but this Calgary-Dallas series has featured some solid goaltending and defense.
Again, this still has a chance of going the distance. Calgary will need a 60-minute effort Friday night to eliminate Dallas.
The Edmonton Fear Is Real
Now, Edmonton is indeed still favoured a bit over Los Angeles for Game 6. The Oilers have been on that side of the moneyline this entire series.
Currently, Edmonton is an underdog to win the series, however. That number has bulged out to between 2.40 and 2.50 and could be worth looking into.
One thing that has changed is that the Over for Canadian Sports Bettors has stayed entrenched at 6.5 (near even money).
Here are more bets to consider:
● Team Over 6.5 goals: 1.95 (no movement)
● Edmonton Series Odds: 2.45
● Edmonton moneyline: 1.71
● Connor McDavid Over 0.5 power-play points: 2.10
● Leon Draisaitl Over 0.5 power-play points: 2.15
● Evander Kane Over 3.5 shots: 1.95
● Connor McDavid Over 3.5 shots: 1.87
● Adrian Kempe or Evander Kane anytime goal: 2.70
If Edmonton wins Game 6, then everything flops back to the Oilers. That is where hedging might come in handy. If that happens, the best advice is to look more toward the props.
The Toronto Maple Leafs Could Do It?
The entire province of Ontario, er Ontario sports betting does not want to jinx the Toronto Maple Leafs.
If people think we are kidding, there is a laundry list of times where it was believed Toronto would “yes, that A word” do it. This is just how we are referring to it.
The expectation is that Toronto will face a Tampa Bay surge, unlike anything it saw in Games 2 and 4. Now, the concern lies in the fact that the Maple Leafs did a poor job in handling those. What makes anyone think it can handle the absolute best of a team on the brink? It’s a great question.
With props hitting just above 50% on Wednesday night again, let’s go in some different directions here.
● 60-minute hedge bet Tampa Bay: 2.05
● Auston Matthews anytime goal: 1.98
● Nikita Kucherov anytime goal: 2.50
● Wincast regulation odds are around 4 if Stamkos or Kucherov score
● Mark Giordano Over 1.5 shots: 1.87
● Keep an eye on the shot and save props for this game. Lean under on saves.
Those Thursday Night Quick Hits
Now we take a look at the rest of the night in the NHL. Tonight’s slate has two other games but there is some hesitation in this one.
● Boston Bruins in 60 moneyline: 2.11
● David Pastrnak Over 4.5 shots: 2.00
● Jeremy Swayman save prop: 1.87
● David Perron or Vladimir Tarasenko anytime goal: 2.85
● Jonathan Quick save prop: 1.91
As always, bet with your brain and not your heart. Round 2 is fast approaching. Save some dollars.
