No Canadian has ever won the French Open, and oddsmakers aren't giving players from Canada good odds to contend this year.

The event hasn’t been a boon for any of the Canadians in this year’s field. Only Leylah Fernandez has reached the quarterfinals and no Canadian has ever reached the final at Roland Garros.

Here’s a sports betting breakdown of where each of the four Canadians is entering the French Open.

Bianca Andreescu +8000 DraftKings Sportsbook

Of the four Canadians, Andreescu has the lowest odds to win the French Open, but it has not been an ideal clay season for the No. 41 player in the world.

Andreescu exited the first rounds of the Madrid and Italian Open, with the latter being one of the worst performances of her career. Andreescu fell to Marketa Vondrousova 6-0, 6-1 back on May 12 and has not competed since. Andreescu’s draw doesn’t favor her, either, with the Canadian set to face No. 18 Victoria Azarenka.

Besides her U.S. Open win in 2019, Andreescu has never made it past the second round of any other grand slam, including the French Open.

Felix-Auger Aliassime +10000 DraftKings Sportsbook

Auger-Aliassime had his best performance at the French Open last year, making it to the fourth round. It marked the first time in his career he made it past the opening round of the French Open.

Similar to Andreescu, Auger-Aliassime had poor showings in the Madrid and Italian Opens, losing in the first round to Dusan Lajovic and Alexei Popyrin each in three sets. Auger-Aliassime is currently taking part in the Lyon Open to prep for Roland Garros and did earn a round of 16 victory over Pablo Llamas Ruiz to advance to the quarterfinals.

Auger-Aliassime will open this year’s French Open with a matchup against No. 130 Fabio Fognini.

Leylah Fernandez +30000 DraftKings Sportsbook

After her final run in the 2021 U.S. Open, Leylah Fernandez continued her strong performances in grand slams with a quarterfinal run in the 2022 French Open. But, like her other Canadian counterparts, she hasn’t shown great form on the clay this season.

She lost both of her first-round matchups at the Madrid and Italian Opens and fell to No. 132 Sara Sorribes Tormo in an ITF event Peyton Stearns in the second round in Morocco.

Similar to Andreescu, Fernandez has a difficult draw as well. Fernandez will face No. 21 Magda Linette who was a French Open semifinalist in 2021. Out of all the outright futures for the French Open, Fernandez is one of the biggest longshots. At +30000, she is tied for the third-longest odds in the field.

Denis Shapovalov +30000 DraftKings Sportsbook

A year ago, Denis Shapovalov recorded a signature victory on the clay. Shapovalov took advantage of an ailing Rafael Nadal to beat the 14-time French Open champion in three sets at the Italian Open. (1-6, 7-5, 6-2). But it has not been as successful as a clay season for Shapovalov this year. He’s just 1-2 this season.

Shapovalov will take on Brandon Nakashima in the first round of the French Open. Nakashima defeated Shapovalov in the second round last year at Wimbledon.

Betting Pick: Stick With Favorites

Recent form and lack of historical success at the French Open are just a couple of reasons why no Canadian is worth backing as an outright winner this year.

It’s hard even to forecast a reason to back any Canadian in the first round, given how first-round exits have been regular occurrences for all four players.
