Before setting the table for the weekend, let’s take a look at what happened Thursday

The Edmonton Oilers-Los Angeles Kings series has been nuts.

During Thursday’s game in Los Angeles, the Oilers jumped out to a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes. Los Angeles tied the game, and then Edmonton got the game winner from Tyson Barrie. Evander Kane added an empty netter to give Edmonton a 4-2 win.

Part of why the gamble was taken on Edmonton (series win) at 2.50 was this reason: Having a Game 7 in Edmonton felt predestined. And, yes, four goals on Thursday night was enough.

Thankfully, Edmonton won the race to three, won in regulation, and the Kane and McDavid anytime goal props connected. Staying away from the Over for Canadian sports bettors was wise here.

As for Saturday night, wait for the scoring props as bettors should find a good deal of action.

Then, there was Toronto.

Toronto Headed To Game 7

The rationale was that a Game 7 was going to happen between the Toronto Maple Leafs and Tampa Bay Lightning.

It happened but in a way few expected. In Thursday’s Game 6, played in South Florida, Tampa Bay scored the first two goals. Toronto scored the next three in the middle stanza. Finally, the Lightning tied it, then won in overtime behind Brayden Point’s heroics.

The 4-3 overtime loss sent the game back to Toronto for a Saturday night primetime showdown. Is the pressure more on the team that has not advanced past the first round in forever (Toronto) or the two-time Stanley Cup champions (Tampa Bay)?

That’s a great question.

Here are a few early bets to consider.

1. Team Under 6.5 goals: 1.95

2. Brayden Point anytime goal: Wait for the number

Yes, Calgary was not forgotten.

Calgary Has Chance To Eliminate Dallas

The entire province of Ontario has to have something to bet on Friday night. Thankfully, there is Calgary to the rescue.

The Calgary Flames have a chance to eliminate a pesky Dallas Stars team on Friday night in North Texas.

Calgary won once in Dallas already. The key on Friday is whether Calgary can win three games in a row?

The hardest game to win is the fourth. Dallas will be ready. Here are a few more bets.

1. Joe Pavelski first goal: 8.50 (odds boost)

2. Lindholm, Tkachuk, and Robertson each record a point: 4.00 (odds boost)

3. Jake Oettinger Over on saves: Wait for number

Weekend Best Bets

Going into the weekend, here are some good bets to keep in mind.

1. Carolina Hurricanes to win in 60 minutes: 2.06

2. Carolina/Boston Under 6.0 goals: 1.83

3. Chris Kreider Over 0.5 points: 1.71

4. Jonathan Quick save prop Over again: 1.91

5. From the IIHF World Championship, Canada Puckline: 2.05

Now is the time to bet smaller and smarter. Round 2 begins early next week. Good luck, everyone!
