Men's Slalom Odds: How to Bet on What Should Be a Very Competitive Event
Three Alpine Skiing events remain for medals at the Olympics with one being the Men’s Slalom, which will be held on the Ice River course that starts at an altitude of 1,712 meters and drops 211 meters to a finish line at 1,501 meters.
There are 67 gates of which 64 are turning gates. Canadian Doug Campbell will be the FIS Technical Delegate for the event.
This event, like the Downhill, will see the medal-winning athletes reach the podium by tenths of a second. Unlike the Giant Slalom, who had a significant favourite lined at –100 to win the gold medal in Switzerland’s Marco Odermatt, this event has up to a dozen skiers that have the potential to medal.
Odermatt lived up to the pressure plowing through the heavy show and poor visibility and easily won the gold medal in the Giant Slalom.
This event is contested with each skier attacking the Ice River Course twice and the two runs are combined with the winner having the fastest combined time of both runs. The Downhill is simply a once-and-done event.
Which Nation Will the Winner Represent?
Norway has five skiers entered and is the favourite at +140 on the BetMGM Sportsbook. For new sports bettors, this means that if you wager $100 on Norway to bring home the gold medal from this event, and you are correct, you will win $140 in profit. So, you place $100, but with a win, you receive $240 in return, of which $100 represents the original wager.
Austria has five skiers entered and is lined at +300 or 3:1, which means a winning bet returns three times more than the wager including the wager. So, $100 placed on a winning wager returns $400 overall consisting of $300 profit and the original $100 wager.
France has two skiers, but either, or both have the potential to be on the podium, and is lined at +400. Italy has five skiers and is lined at +600.

Who are the Favourites at the Men’s Slalom?
France might have two entries, but they are among the best in the world. Clement Noel is the favourite, lined at +500 to win gold and +160 to win a medal.
The 25-year-old Clement will be the fourth starter down the Ice River course. He will follow Switzerland’s Ramon Zenhaeusern, lined at +3300 to win the gold medal and +1200 to medal.
The second skier Sebastian Foss-Solevaag of Norway, is lined at +700 and +225 to medal. Henrik Kristoffersen of Norway is the third skier and you bet he will get last-second intelligence from his team just ahead of him. He is lined at +600 (second-best favourite) and +200 to medal.
Team Canada has three skiers entered this event, but none are lined in the betting markets and instead are part of the catch-all ‘Field’ of ‘all other skiers not listed’.
The ‘all skiers not listed’ line is +2500 and I believe this represents an attractive bet of not more than 0.25 units or $25 for the $100 per 1.0-unit bettor.

Odds from BetMGM Sportsbook
The Wild Card skier is set to start eighth is Frenchman Alexis Pinturault, who will get course intelligence from his fellow countryman, Clement, who is starting the fourth position. They and their coaches then can exchange information from both skiers to make the necessary adjustments for their second run.
Norway has the same advantage too, but I like Clement at +160 to medal and Pinturault to medal lined at +700 to medal for 0.25 units each for the $100 per 1-unit bettor.
Good luck to everyone and remember, bet with your head and never over it and may all the wins be yours.
