NHL and BetMGM Agree to Extend Sports Betting Partnership
MGM Resorts International, BetMGM, and the National Hockey League announced that they have agreed to a multi-year extension on their existing partnership earlier this week.
What’s in the BetMGM Deal with NHL
The partnership dates to 2018 when BetMGM Sportsbook became the first official NHL sports betting partner.
This announcement comes just as the NHL prepares for its All-Star Weekend, slated to be played at T-Mobile Arena in Washington, D.C., an MGM Resorts operated facility.
With the continuation of this partnership, BetMGM and MGM Resorts will still be the official sports betting partner and resorts partner, respectively, and will also continue using NHL brands to “enhance the experience for both customers and guests” and also have access to the NHL’s fan database to main communication with them.
Additionally, BetMGM and MGM Resorts will remain involved in the NHL’s jewel events, with “camera-visible signage and on-site activation opportunities”
NHL Network’s “Showcase Odds” segment also includes BetMGM odds integration and MGM Resorts is sponsoring the NHL All-Star “First Timers” campaign across social media platforms.
"We are thrilled to renew our partnership with MGM Resorts and BetMGM," Evin Dobson, NHL Group Vice President, Partnership Marketing, said in a news release. "Our extension enables us to continue to work together on delivering innovative content programming to connect with our passionate fans. We look forward to continuing to grow our relationship with MGM Resorts and BetMGM and collaborate on new opportunities for fan engagement."
"Our partnership with the NHL has been a tremendous success, allowing us to provide guests and hockey fans with unparalleled access to their favorite teams. Alongside BetMGM, we remain committed to helping the League grow its audience, while offering fans new and entertaining experiences,” Lance Evans, the Senior Vice President of Sports & Sponsorships at MGM Resorts, said in the release.
Sports Gambling Expansion Coming to Canada
iGaming Ontario announced recently that private gaming operators that have registered with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario and executing an operating agreement with iGaming Ontario are eligible to go live on April 4.
BetMGM will likely be among the sportsbooks to go live at that time.
“This collaboration allows BetMGM to deliver the best-in-class hockey product, including a wide variety of NHL wagering options,” Adam Greenblatt, the Chief Executive Officer of BetMGM, said in the release on the NHL deal. “We will continue to work with the League to reach new fans, as we expand into new markets."
BetMGM, MGM Resorts, and the NHL are all partners of the American Gaming Association’s “Have A Game Plan. Bet Responsibly” campaign, which aims to promote responsible sports wagering to new consumers and seasoned bettors.”
