NHL Betting Advice, Outlook for this Week
The NHL has six more days of action this week. 2023 has begun, and the Winter Classic is already behind us.
That seems crazy how things always move so fast. There is no time like the present to get you ready for your NHL betting this week.
NHL Schedule Breakdown
Let us do this first in terms of game allotment.
- Tuesday – 11
- Wednesday – 3
- Thursday – 10
Thankfully, this gets to the point of routine until the All-Star Break. That is good because this allows a bettor to get into some rhythm.
Then, some teams play back-to-backs coming off the holiday weekend.
- Dallas (Tuesday, Wednesday)
- Tampa Bay (Tuesday, Wednesday)
- New Jersey (Wednesday, Thursday)
Again, this was nice. Most every team is rested during this portion of the schedule. It will be great to see some excellent divisional battles this week.
What To Look Forward To in The NHL This Week
The biggest thing to look forward to is how teams come out of the holiday breaks. That helps in giving us some marquis games. The New York Rangers and Carolina Hurricanes clash tonight. If it is anything like New Jersey and Carolina on Sunday, we are in for a treat.
That might be the biggest game this week. Carolina comes in rolling along in their last 16 games (14-0-2). Now, those Rangers have been playing well themselves. They held on in Florida over the weekend to defeat the Panthers. Can the goaltenders absorb two teams that brilliantly counter well? The only difference is Carolina creates more of their own pace and scoring chances. Expect an entertaining game with quite a few goals.
Then, there is Nashville, who entertains Montreal tonight. Filip Forsberg comes off a five-goal week and top honors from the NHL. What can he do for an encore tonight? Montreal just allowed nine goals to Washington, including an Alex Ovechkin hat trick. Check your local Forsberg props, as it is “Forsberg Tuesday.”
If there is more plus-value, it might lie with the Los Angeles Kings. Goals scored, and the Kings seem synonymous. They get to enjoy home cooking against two of the better teams in the league as the Dallas Stars, and Boston Bruins come to town. Expect a good deal of fireworks from the West Coast this week.
The Tampa Bay Lightning have an intriguing start to the week taking on Chicago and Minnesota on consecutive nights. This means Andrei Vasilevskiy may not start one of those games. If you are an Over aficionado, Tampa Bay might be a place to look. Check those team numbers and game numbers alike.
Finally, Seattle treks through Canada with stops in Edmonton and Toronto during the early portion of the week. The Kraken keep treading water after their hot streak, which is encouraging. They also have some games in hand, too. The bad news is they play the Oilers, who clubbed them 7-2 last week. It is an excellent time to see what Seattle has learned.
We Could be In for Goals Aplenty
Speaking of the Toronto Maple Leafs, they are another team who should benefit from playing at home this week. They go up against St. Louis and Seattle. Both teams give up their fair share of goals. That should allow for some bountiful offensive opportunities.
Thursday’s schedule has some storylines, too. Alex Ovechkin has more chances to pad his goal count in Columbus. The late slate has four games that could pack a punch. That includes the aforementioned Boston and Los Angeles clash. Do not sleep on the Islanders and Oilers. Even that Colorado and Vancouver contest may feature a lot of offense. The Avalanche and Canucks struggle a bit on the defensive side of the equation.
We remembered the Pittsburgh and Vegas game. Talk about an increase in entertainment and betting value. The Penguins will want to score just one goal on Monday. Expect Vegas to see an onslaught.
Some Quick Points To Be Mindful Of
- Washington Moneyline for a team that has won eight of the last 10 versus Buffalo
- With Ryan O’Reilly and Vladimir Tarasenko added to the IR, picking on St. Louis is still prudent.
- Toronto Over four goals and game Over of 6 likely!
- Dallas Moneyline tonight has a little value.
- Keep an eye on New Jersey. Can they figure out their goaltending and get Marino back?
- Will Boston ever go on a losing streak?
Good luck, and once again, thanks for reading! We will have a few more plays on social media as conditions warrant.
