Nova Scotia Sports Betting Goes Live Just in Time for the Super Bowl
Single-game sports betting is now available in Nova Scotia, just in time for Super Bowl LVI on Sunday.
Nova Scotia is the last Atlanta province in Canada to launch single-game sports betting through the Atlanta Lottery Corporation’s (ALC) PROLINE sports betting platform.
Before today, bettors were limited to parlays, despite other parts of Canada already being able to bet on single games thanks to the passage of Bill C-218.
Single-game betting officially went live in Canada on Aug. 27. Nova Scotia’s provincial election on Aug. 17 brought in a new Conservative government with Premier Tim Houston. With the political change, the sports betting rules had to be reviewed before the change to allow single-game betting was offered.
Nova Scotia’s sports wagering market is regulated by the ALC, which features the PROLINE platform. The ALC also oversees the sports betting markets in New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Newfoundland.
Super Bowl Odds
Super Bowl betting will kick wagering off for Nova Scotians. Betting on the spread is one of the more popular options, and at the PROLINE sportsbook, the Los Angeles Rams are currently 4-point favorites (1.92) over the Cincinnati Bengals.
On the moneyline, the Rams are 1.52 favorites, while the Bengals are 2.58 underdogs. The total is set at 48.5.
In addition to the popular betting lines, the PROLINE sportsbook will also offer over 30 prop bets. These can include what player will score a touchdown first, or Over-Unders for an individual player’s stats. The most creative props are always available for the Super Bowl, and Nova Scotia residents will get to experience betting on them for the first time this weekend.
More on Nova Scotia Betting
According to the Canadian Gaming Association, the Nova Scotia sports betting market is worth $26 million annually. The province also has two professional sports teams, including the Halifax Wanderers in the Canadian Premier Soccer League and the Halifax Thunderbird in the National Lacrosse League.
As it stands, the ALC’s PROLINE platform is the only legal and regulated sportsbook in Nova Scotia. Unlike Ontario, which is launching its iGaming market on April 4, allowing private operators to enter the province, Nova Scotia currently has no plans to expand its sports betting market.
