Most of the NHL buzz north of the border surrounds the Toronto Maple Leafs’ Auston Matthews, with two hat tricks in the first three games, just the fifth player in NHL history to open a season with back-to-back hat tricks. (Alex Ovechkin was the last to pull it off, in 2017-18.)

At the start of the week on Monday, Connor Bedard and the Chicago Blackhawks took out the Leafs 4-1, with Matthews kept off the score sheet.

The Leafs’ William Nylander now has three goals in three games and had an assist versus Chicago (six points overall now).

Leading up to Monday's game, DraftKings Sportsbook said one of their most bet player props was Nylander Shots on Goal (Over 3.5), at 1.69. So there’s a lot of buzz about Nylander in a contract year.
