While 20Bet is a relatively new sports betting site, it’s already made quite a splash in gunning for a spot on our sports betting nz rankings.
The company behind 20Bet – Tech Solutions NV – already had an excellent reputation before it launched its latest venture, with several reputable betting and casino brands already under their umbrella. While the company’s based in Cyprus, they operate with gambling licenses issued by the government of Curaçao. This should put your mind at rest as to whether New Zealanders can safely bet on sports with 20Bet.
We all love Saturdays as traditionally, that’s when the most sporting action takes place, but you will really love Saturdays at 20Bet as you can earn a free bet 100% bonus up to €/$100 every week. If you have made a minimum €/$5 bet each day, Monday to Friday, then any deposit you make on the Saturday using the promo code SRB will be matched 100 percent up to that €/$100 limit. Unlike some other betting sites offering free bets you do not need to use a promo code to claim this welcome bonus.
The welcome bonus at 20Bet is a 100 percent bonus up to €/$100 (and that’s US dollars as opposed to New Zealand dollars – the equivalent in New Zealand dollars is around NZ$150). Once you have registered your account at 20Bet all you need to do to get your bonus is deposit at least €/$10. 20Bet will then match your deposit 100 percent up to that €/$100 limit (so if your deposit is €/$200 you will still only get a €/$100 bonus).
Once you have made your first deposit you must place one qualifying bet or a series of qualifying bets with a total stake of five times your deposit amount, so if your deposit is $10, you will need to place $50 as a qualifying bet or in total. All bets must be on single bets with minimum odds of 1.5, or multiple, accumulator or parlay bets with minimum cumulative odds of 1.7.
Only winnings from your free bet are eligible for withdrawal, not the free bet stake itself. You have fourteen days from your deposit to meet the wagering requirements. If you do not do so within that timeframe then your bonus can no longer be claimed. Note that deposits made with cryptocurrencies are not eligible for this offer.
The 20Bet sports book does run a good number of ongoing sports betting promotions. If you have the skills when it comes to making your sports betting predictions, then you could win up to €/$1,000 in the weekly sports betting competition. If you have deposited at least €/$20 at 20Bet within the last five days, then you enter the weekly predictions competition. You win €/$1,000 for 10/10 predictions correct, €/$100 for 9/10 and €/$50 for 8/10.
20Bet also holds a weekly sports betting tournament. Enter the competition and compete against others to earn your place on the leaderboard. The player at the top of the leaderboard come the week’s end wins a €/$1,500 free bet! In total, there are €/$8,000 in prizes each and every week. Sports and Markets Available at 20Bet
There are plenty of sports you can wager upon at 20bet. The main sporting preferences for betting here include the following:
These five sports seem to take preference above all others at the site. On a secondary level, you can also bet upon the following, as examples:
20Bet does have a high percentage of eSports betting opportunities (Call of Duty, Counter-Strike, Dota 2, League of Legends, StarCraft). It does not though seem to have any niche wagering options such as entertainment and politics.
The 20Bet sports betting website has everything you need to place your sporting bets. The sports software at 20Bet is provided by European firm SoftGamings.
The menus are easy to use and to place a bet you just click the odds of the event outcome to transfer it to your betting slip. Set your stake and click ‘Bet’ to secure your wager. The site has a very good live betting section too. All current major live events are covered with football being the most popular live betting market. One disappointment though – cash-out is not available here, and that includes partial cash out too.
Most sporting markets are covered but both horse racing and greyhounds are not covered at all. If you are into your eSports betting though you will not be disappointed as 20Bet offers extensive coverage of all the major global eSports betting events.
20bet is also one of the New Zealand Live Betting Sites we’re happy to recommend to thrill-seeking punters, with multiple sports covered including football, tennis, basketball, ice hockey and cricket. All the leading events taking place daily are covered, with live events updated every three seconds or so. You can get the very latest, up-to-the-moment odds always, so you never miss the chance to place a bet at a very generous price. One downvote for 20Bet here, though – cash out is not available.
20Bet does offer live streaming but only on a small number of sporting contests. Do not expect live streaming coverage on major leagues such as the EPL, La Liga or Serie A, or top sporting events such as golf majors or the four top annual tennis tournaments.

The desktop site is perhaps the most common way that people will use the 20bet sportsbook. It runs in a typical fashion for an online sportsbook, with menus on the left giving the leading sporting events, including those that are happening right now. Scroll further down for the full range of contests that can be wagered upon. You are free to browse all events but if you are looking for a specific sporting contest, then you can use the search function which is useful.
Access to your account features run across the top menu, as does your cashier options so it is always easy to get money into your sports betting account. Events are displayed clearly and intuitively, with the leading win/lose odds displayed for each. Stats about most events from Sport Radar can be easily accessed too, to help your wagering decision-making. If you want to drill down into all the betting options available for any event, you can click on the number to the left of the fixture details.
When it comes to mobile sports betting apps 20Bet’s offers a balance between speed and usability. You can save on storage space on your phone as rather than an app you can download and install to your devices, you follow the QR-code given at the desktop site on your mobile and you’re taken through to the mobile-optimised site using your usual mobile browser.
The ‘app’ is suitable for both Apple and Android users and combines all the functionality of the 20bet sports book with the associated 20bet casino. The app is very easy to use, and you can use the same account you use for the desktop site – there is no need for you to set up a new one just for mobile use.
This online sports book does offer a good range of payment methods, but we have seen sites that offer plenty more. There are three main general methods – cards, eWallets and cryptocurrencies. Credit and debit cards are really limited to Visa and MasterCard, and the main eWallets accepted are Skrill, Neteller, ecoPayz, Jeton, Interac and Perfect Money. Ten cryptocurrencies are accepted at 20Bet, including Bitcoin, Litecoin and Ethereum.
All deposits are processed instantly, and the minimum accepted deposit is $20 ($75 for cryptocurrencies). The maximum that you can deposit in a single transaction is set at a high level - $100,000 in fact. The minimum withdrawal allowed is also $20 and thankfully there are no fees attached. If you withdraw via a cryptocurrency wallet or eWallet then your money should be with you within a matter of hours. Card users will have to be a little more patient as such withdrawals may take up to seven days to reach your banking account.

The odds offered at the 20Bet sportsbook seem fair in comparison to the odds offered by their competitors. Odds can be displayed in decimal, fractional and US formats. As far as we could tell, 20Bet does not offer any enhanced or boosted odds deals.

The registration process at 20bet is largely painless. To get started, head to the site (use the link we have provided) and click on the red ‘sign up’ button at the top of the screen. Choose ‘New Zealand’ as your country and enter your email address. You also need to create a password at this stage as well as choosing between the sports bonus and the casino bonus. Click ‘Continue to Step 2’ when you have completed this. Next, choose your currency (NZ$ if that is your preference) and enter your name, gender and date of birth. Click ‘Continue to Step 3’ when this is done. Finally, add your address and phone number and choose your communication preferences. Click ‘Submit’ to complete your registration at 20Bet. The best way of contacting customer support at 20Bet is to click on the live chat applet in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. We used the support options and were very impressed – our query was answered within 30 seconds and the answers given were more than satisfactory. This sports betting site does offer a Sport VIP program. This is split over six levels and of course the higher your standing, the better the benefits. You are awarded one Compoint (CP) for every NZ$3 you wager at the site, and you need 150 CPs to move from Level 1 to Level 2, and 200,000 to make it all the way to Level 6. Each time you ascend a level you are given a stack of bonus CPs. Each month your accumulated CPs will be converted into bonus bets at the rate of NZ$1.50 for every 100 CPs (up to NZ$7,500). Bonus bets must be used within five days of receiving them.
The site has its own section dedicated to responsible gambling, although it does not go into great detail about the options available other than ‘contact support if you think you are having problems with your gambling’. You can self-exclude yourself from 20Bet but that seems to be it as far as your options go. 20Bet needs to up its game a little in this regard.

20Bet is a well-designed site which makes betting easy. It has all the most popular betting markets available at all times and the live betting section is particularly useful. The sign-up process is easy to get through and the site has a sufficient number of payment options including the acceptance of cryptocurrencies. The only negatives really are the lack of cash-out options on live bets and the somewhat half-hearted approach to responsible gambling. These are only slight disappointments though – overall 20Bet is an excellent sports betting site for New Zealand and comes recommended by us.
Yes it does – NZ$20.
Decent enough, although we have encountered sites with a lot more.
It ‘pretends’ it does but if you click on the supplied link, you get taken through to the mobile-optimised version of the site.
We can answer yes to that. The site is properly licensed and has internet security protocols in place.
For eWallets and cryptocurrencies it is only an hour or so. Cards take between three and five days.
