The punters are beating online bookmakers after the first day of the 2023 Cheltenham Festival, with a spate of well-fancied horses landing victory on Tuesday including Constitution Hill and Honeysuckle.
We now look ahead to Day Two of the meeting and it looks a good deal trickier from a punting point-of-view.
That’s because races such as the Coral Cup and the Champion Bumper being wide-open affairs, while we also have the novelty of the Cross Country Chase.
As always, please gamble responsibly and look to get the best each-way terms if you are looking to follow our selections.
Getting extra places can make all the difference and UK bookmakers might pay down to as many as six places.
1.30pm Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle – Champ Kiely
Impaire Et Passe looks a worthy favourite with horse racing betting sites, but we are much happier to take a bigger price about Champ Kiely.
The Willie Mullins-trained charge having landed three wins this season and there was only one race where there was an aberration.

That was finishing fourth in a novice hurdle at Fairyhouse, although the fact that this race was won by Supreme winner Marine Nationale means that even this form doesn’t look too shabby.
The horse having done everything right aside from this and we’re expecting a good run for our money.
2.10pm Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase – The Real Whacker
You naturally need a horse to get the trip on testing ground in the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase which is over three miles in distance.
We can be fairly confident that race favourite Gerri Colombe is the one to beat, however the horse has come plenty short enough since the decs were made and we’re in search of an alternative angle.
We’ll instead roll the dice on The Real Whacker and who has secured back-to-back wins leading into this race.
There was everything to like about The Real Whacker’s win at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day where favourite Monmiral was beaten into second and the trip looks tailor-made for Patrick Neville’s horse.
2.50pm Coral Cup Hurdle – Captain Conby
Captain Conby has been backed on new betting sites for the Coral Cup, but there is still some value in backing the six-year-old to land a victory over two miles and five furlongs.
The horse most recently finished runner-up on New Year’s Eve at Punchestown behind San Salvador.
Meanwhile, Captain Conby also in the frame at the same course when finishing third over three miles the month before.
The money may have spoken for Eamon Sheehy’s charge and we believe it’s still worth dealing in.
4.10pm Cross Country Chase – Franco De Port
There are probably only three horses that can win the Cross Country Chase, with Delta Work and Galvin vying for favouritism.
Both Gordon Elliott-trained horses have the right credentials to land a victory, however Franco De Port is capable of throwing a spanner in the works at a bigger price.
The Willie Mullins horses look better than the rest of the field and should be able to run into the frame, with the runner actually piecing together a decent performance in the Irish Gold Cup at the Dublin Racing Festival at a big price.
If the big two in the market slip up, then this horse could be there to pick up the pieces.
4.50pm Grand Annual Chase – Dinoblue
Dinoblue’s nimble jumping might come to the fore when it comes to the Grand Annual Challenge Cup.
The mare off a very nice mark of 10-13 and there is still enough juice in the price on betting apps to back her each-way.
Willie Mullins will be confident that Luke Dempsey can give the six-year-old a decent spin and the horse ran relatively well in a mares’ chase at Naas a month ago.
