England vs Italy Predictions:

England will look to cement their place at Euro 2024 with a win over Italy when the two sides meet at Wembley on Tuesday evening (7:45pm).

The Three Lions currently occupy top spot in Group C and boast a three point cushion over Italy and Ukraine, who sit in second and third position.

In a repeat of the Euro 2020 final (venue included), it would be bitter sweet for the hosts to not only rubber stamp their place in Germany for next year’s competition, but also halt Italy’s quest for the European Championships in the process.

England have recorded a brace of victories in their most recent affairs with Scotland and Australia, and haven't tasted defeat since their World Cup quarter-final exit to France in December.

Gli Azzuri travel to the capital as the outsiders with UK betting sites, but head into this one in an improved run of form, that has seen the Italians collect seven points from their last three qualifying matches.

With a huge amount at stake, both sides know they will need to bring their best in this one if they want to emerge victorious in London.

Three Points The Aim For Southgate

Gareth Southgate has overseen four wins and a draw from his five games in charge of this qualification campaign, and he will hope to advance on this run against a self-assured Italian side.

England have not lost at Wembley since that memorable final against Italy back in 2021, and will be seeking revenge while attempting to damage Italy’s qualification attempts.

It is the only defeat the Three Lions have endured at home versus Italy since 2002, and with an unbeaten qualifying record at stake, they will not look to hand the bragging rights to Luciano Spalletti and co.

It’s been a trio of home clean sheets for England in their last three matches, and with typically tight contests against Italy in mind, one goal could be enough to seal all three points.

The 2-1 win in the reverse fixture back in March was not only England’s first away victory over Italy since 1961, but is proving pivotal in terms of the current standings.

With a rich vein of form present, we support betting apps in predicting that Southgate's men will avenge the 2020 heartbreak to edge out Italy in a tight affair.

Expect Defences To Be On Top

Just one of the last six encounters between these two sides has seen the two-goal barrier breached and with such a large reward at stake, we are anticipating a cagey battle between two international powerhouses.

Although Italy have played a game fewer than chasers Ukraine, they know when they meet in the final round of fixtures, this could be one where they wished they had performed better.

With nerves expected to be prevalent in this one, it could be a moment of class that separates the two sides in this one.

England have conceded just twice in their five qualification matches, and with a monumental 16 goals scored, it is no surprise as to why bookmakers make the hosts the odds-on favourites.

Italy themselves have only conceded four times, but with a hostile reception expected there are many results that would be worse than a scoreless draw away in England.

Clinical Kane To Find The Net

Harry Kane scored the winning goal the last time these two met, making him England’s all-time top goalscorer – a feat that will live long in the history-maker's memory.

Kane has bagged five times in qualifying heading into this fixture and football betting sites have the England captain as a very generous 5/4 to add to this tally.

The Bayern forward has scored 20 goals from the spot in an England shirt and with an 83.3% success rate from 12-yards, the source of the goal could come via a penalty.

His technical ability pits him among the best in the world and even if Italy are firing on all cylinders, one lapse in concentration could be enough for a man of Kane's calibre to capitalise.

With four goals in his last four appearances for England and eight goals already for his new club Bayern Munich, the Three Lions talisman is in the form of his life and it would be a shock to nobody if he was to score the winner on Tuesday evening.
