Glastonbury 2024 Odds: Who Will Play A Surprise Set At Worthy Farm?

Glastonbury 2024 gets under way on the main stages on June 28, and every year there are plenty of rumours about who might perform a secret set.

While speculation is rife on UK betting sites, such surprise performances aren't usually confirmed until the day they happen.

Lady Gaga, The Killers, Rick Astley and Franz Ferdinand have all previously played secret sets at the iconic Worthy Farm festival, as have Foo Fighters.

The Dave Grohl-fronted group performed on the Pyramid Stage last year, in the slot of a mystery, fictional band known only as The Churnups.

But some eagle-eyed fans were convinced the Foos were due to perform after Dave thanked fans on Instagram for their support and for "churning up these emotions together".

There are several slots yet to be announced for this year's Glasto, including a 6pm Saturday performance at the Woodies Stage - but who might fill it?

Kasabian And Liam Gallagher Hot Favourites

Kasabian and Liam Gallagher are known to be big pals in the music world, but it's tough to split them on specials betting sites in this market.

The Fire hitmakers are just 4/6 to rock up to Glastonbury, after they were heavily rumoured to be playing at the Somerset site.

A performance would be the perfect time for the fourpiece to plug their upcoming new album, Happenings, which will drop on July 5.

A day later, Kasabian are playing a homecoming show at Leicester's Victoria Park, so a surprise Glastonbury performance might be the ideal preparation to get their live show juices flowing again.

One musician who is well and truly in gig-playing mode is Liam.

The singer is in the middle of his Definitely Maybe tour, during which he is playing Oasis' debut album all the way through.

However, perhaps somewhat mysteriously, he doesn't have a show booked for Friday or Saturday.

Liam is in Glasgow on Wednesday and Thursday, before heading to Dublin on Sunday.

While it would be a bit of a detour to fly down to Somerset, could the pull of a surprise Glasto gig be too good to resist? He is Evens to take the Woodies Stage slot.

Jarvis' Glastonbury Hat-Trick?

One person who will definitely be at this year's Glastonbury is Pulp frontman Jarvis Cocker.

Jarvis and Alexis Taylor are booked for the Stonebridge Bar between 1pm and 3pm on Friday, June 28.

The Pulp star will deliver his Biophobia talk, which explores his personal journey to cure his "fear of nature [biophobia]" at Glastonbury's Speakers Forum on Saturday.

That leaves plenty of time for Jarvis to complete a hat-trick of Glastonbury 2024 performances by joining forces with Pulp and playing a surprise set at Worthy Farm.

Pulp are 2/1 on betting apps to do so, just in front of fellow Britpop band Blur at 4/1 and 3/1 chances Kings of Leon.

Blur haven't played Glastonbury since 2009, so they are long overdue a return.

Green Day At Glasto?

Other acts who could be in contention for a shock Glastonbury appearance are Green Day.

They are booked for gigs in June, but, like Liam, they have a convenient gap in their schedule on Saturday.

The Basket Case band are playing at Manchester's Old Trafford Cricket Ground on Friday and at the Isle of Wight Festival on Sunday.

They are 5/1 on new betting sites to make it to Glastonbury.

Green Day are no strangers to surprising British fans, after shocking pub punters in November last year, when they performed a surprise gig at the central London boozer The Marquis.

What's more, The Killers have also surprised the Glasto crowd, after doing so in 2017, when they played a secret set on the John Peel Stage.

The Killers are 7/1 to repeat that trick this year, while fellow Americans Weezer are 8/1.

The Buddy Holly hitmakers have been on a UK tour supporting Smashing Pumpkins, but it finished last week, giving them a free weekend to potentially surprise the Glastonbury faithful.
