Good Morning Britain Odds: Piers Morgan Favourite For GMB Return

Talk show legend Trisha Goddard became the latest guest host on Good Morning Britain this month - three-and-a-half years after Piers Morgan dramatically quit the show.

Ever since Piers' GMB departure, ITV bosses have opted for a revolving door of stand-in presenters to take his place, but latest speculation on UK betting sites suggests he could be in line for a return.

As well as Trisha, the likes of former Labour politician Ed Balls, TV stars Adil Ray and Robert Rinder, money saving expert Martin Lewis and former This Morning presenter Richard Madeley have all had a go in the hot seat alongside long-serving presenter Susanna Reid.

Susanna has been at GMB since its inception in April 2014 after she was poached from the BBC.

She is currently on her summer break from the show, but could now be the time to find a new permanent co-host to help her wake up the nation in September?

Piers To Storm Back In?

Piers infamously quit Good Morning Britain in controversial fashion in March 2021, just hours after he stormed off the show's set during a heated row with weatherman Alex Beresford.

The pair clashed over Piers' comments about Meghan Markle, for which Ofcom received more than 57,000 complaints, including one from Meghan herself, following her tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Piers quit GMB after refusing to apologise for his comments, which included him saying he "didn't believe a word" of what she had said in the controversial interview.

However, six months later he was cleared of any wrongdoing for his comments about the Duchess of Sussex.

The TV presenter returned to ITV in March this year to be interviewed on daytime show Lorraine about his TalkTV interview with Fiona Harvey, a lawyer who is suing Netflix for how she is allegedly portrayed in the service's drama Baby Reindeer.

At the time, Piers joked on X he nearly "stormed back in" to the GMB studio after walking past it on his way to Lorraine.

He is just Evens on specials betting sites to be heading back to the GMB studio for a guest presenting stint, and 11/8 to be the show's next permanent presenter.

The star has tasted success with his Piers Morgan Uncensored show, but he would no doubt be back in the conversation should ITV be looking to hire another regular presenter.

He has never been replaced permanently on the show, but it would be a typical Piers moment if the only suitable replacement was Piers himself.

Ed's Controversy

Several stars have taken Piers' place temporarily on GMB, which has been met with both praise and further controversy.

Ed has recently been a regular figure alongside Susanna on the show, but he ensured it was a busy day at Ofcom HQ earlier this month when more than 8,000 complaints were lodged to the UK's independent communications regulator after he interviewed his own wife, home secretary Yvette Cooper, on the show

He has since confirmed he is taking a - somewhat timely - break from GMB and will return to co-host alongside Susanna at the beginning of September.

Following the controversy, Ed is a 9/2 chance on new betting sites to become the programme's next permanent presenter, while Richard is 3/1

The TV presenter and journalist is regularly compared to Steve Coogan comedy character Alan Partridge by viewers on social media, but he previously admitted he "couldn’t care less" about such comments.

He once told The Guardian newspaper: "Taking yourself seriously is daft. I do the best I can, so please say what you like about me. Be nice, nasty or take the p**s. It doesn’t bother me at all."

GMB bosses clearly don't care about the comparisons either, as Richard has featured frequently on the show of late.

Live TV is easily critiqued nowadays due to social media, but GMB newcomer Trisha was on the right side of it this month when she was widely praised during her guest host stint.

She is now 2/1 second favourite, behind Piers, to become a permanent fixture on the show, while Adil (5/2) and Robert (3/1) could also be in the conversation.

Kemp's GMB Move?

Roman Kemp is just 4/1 on betting apps to become a permanent presenter on the programme, after he turned to more TV hosting roles following his Capital FM breakfast show departure.

Should GMB bosses wish to try him out then the star - whose father is musician Martin Kemp - would no doubt become a guest host first.

He is 6/4 to be the next TV presenter through GMB's revolving door, while former Countdown co-host Carol Vorderman - who is outspoken about politics on social media - is a 2/1 chance, and ex-This Morning presenter Holly Willoughby is 4/1 to guest host the show.

Ben Shephard recently departed Good Morning Britain to take up a permanent position at This Morning, alongside Cat Deeley, but the sister shows could do a swap.

Rylan Clark has recently been guest hosting the ITV brunchtime show, and the star - who also has a big interest in current affairs - is just 5/2 for a go at GMB one day.

Another This Morning connection might see one of the show's former presenters, Phillip Schofield, become a rotating GMB presenter.

Phillip infamously departed ITV last year after he admitted to lying about an "unwise but not illegal" affair with a younger male colleague, and he hasn't been seen on TV since.

Despite this, there have been rumblings he could make an ITV return on this year's I'm A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, and while at 20/1 it looks unlikely he will make his TV comeback in the GMB hotseat, stranger things have happened in the world of daytime TV.

Another shock would be Richard tempting his wife and fellow former This Morning co-host Judy Finnigan back to the small screen.

She is 10/1 for a GMB guest host stint, while Alison Hammond - who hosts This Morning on Fridays and in the holidays, as well as The Great British Bake Off and For The Love Of Dogs - is an 8/1 chance to land another TV job.
