14:20 Yarmouth – Closeness – 1pt @ 20/1

Closeness is of limited ability but has only been running for the Kubler yard since the start of the year and the first three of those yielded a close third, a nose-second and a fourth placed finish. Her last two starts were less encouraging but the most recent came over 7f and that’s too short. She has been given a few months off since and maybe something physical was niggling at her.

Being unproven on turf means coming here could be a plus or a minus but Yarmouth is one of those tracks that often sees All-Weather form stand up well. Jack Mitchell has a good record for the yard also (six wins, six seconds and six thirds from 39 rides) and rides the track very well. Assuming the fitness is in place, Closeness is underrated at 20/1 and I reckon she’s worth having a point on.

15:40 Catterick – Renesmee – 1pt @ 9/1

Renesmee has plenty of natural pace and the one thing you need to have in order to find a rhythm at Catterick is exactly that. Whether she has the ability to win off her current rating of 74 remains to be seen but I’d edge towards thinking she doesn’t have a problem there and after just five career starts, two of them in handicaps, she’s getting closer to the point when you’d expect her to be maxing out. 

She returned from a break on very fast ground at Haydock last time and alongside possibly needing the outing, she was drawn wide and ended up in a deeper lane than would be ideal. Her response when let down was mediocre at best but she should sharpen up for it and could be in line for a better racing position here. Quotes around the 8/1+ mark look generous about such an unexposed runner.
