Horse Racing Tips: Tanya Stevenson's 3 Bets For Aintree & Wincanton On Saturday

Saturday sees a packed schedule starting off at an eye-watering 11.10am at Kelso.

I hope the faithful attend as no course deserves to get shunted forward, and for what? It’s ludicrous, everything clashes anyway!

Where do we go for the big meeting with horse racing betting sites

Wincanton have their Badger Beer card but the National fences seem to take precedence over everything.

The mystique and grandeur of conqueror the course still tugs at the heartstrings and draws the crowds and viewers despite the fact that they are not as tough.

This time it is in the form of the Grand Sefton Chase, Aintree’s 2.40. There are no fewer than 18 fences to jump, provided there is no low sun issues.

It used to be the case that previous experience was mandatory when making decisions but not so now.

Eight of the 21 winners were having their first go over the fences and that applies to a good proportion of Saturday's runners.

Since it was first run only one top weight has won, so I’d be weary of Authorized Art.

Horses with proven Aintree form like Latenightpass and last years second, Percussion and third Frero Banbou, are going to be looked upon very favourably and they are sure to be in there come the elbow once again.

Tanya Stevenson's Selections For Saturday

Tanya Stevenson Panel Tip 1: Aintree 14:05 - Coastguard Station (NAP)

Coastguard Station ran brilliantly over the summer, but I don’t think he has received the recognition he deserved.

That might please connections at present as he may have gone higher up in the handicap had his name been shouted from the rooftops.

He was the horse to take out of Cheltenham's Showcase meeting and I urge you to watch a replay of the race where he was fourth to Calico if you have time to do so.

After a second at Kelso in May to Guy, he went on to win a competitive handicap chase at Uttoxeter in June.

Exaggerated waiting tactics and a slow pace caught him out at Hexham over hurdles in October.

In hindsight, all his hurdle runs show how much better he is over the chase fences and how he needs to run up against better horses and a fast pace.

Tanya Stevenson Panel Tip 2: Aintree 14:05 - King Turgeon

David Pipe has won this race previously, 10 years ago in fact with Poole Master. This time around he has another big chance with exuberant jumper King Turgeon, who was able to show his true ability last time at Chepstow.

It was his first run since a wind op and ridden by Harry Cobden he put in a stunning round of jumping.

All he needs to do is replicate his leaps here at Aintree and he will be gaining ground on all his rivals.

He races up with the pace which is what you need to do on this course.

His win at Chepstow was over 3m 2f but he was travelling so beautifully throughout that the drop in distance shouldn’t be an inconvenience.

He appears to be oozing improvement.

Tanya Stevenson Panel Tip 3: Wincanton 15:30 - Al Dancer

I head to Wincanton for my third tip and latch onto a previous Grand Sefton winner. Yes, the 2022 Aintree victor Al Dancer has every chance to make all and land the Badger Beer under top weight.

He has a fair record first time out (211011) and I think catching him first time out with betting apps might be wise.

With every jump he takes the crowd will get louder and behind this dashing grey and he is such a big horse, the 12 stone shouldn’t bother him if jumping fluently.

And what an opportunity for 7lb claimer Callum Pritchard, who has some big rides at Wincanton and has found the winners enclosure a couple of times recently.

Al Dancer pretty much made all at Kempton on penultimate run in a Grade 3 chase, only to be picked up by Forward Plan carrying more than a stone less with others such as Bowtogreatness, Flegmatik and some of today's rivals.

There is sure to be market moves on others and if he goes too big he could be value each-way.

He will make sure it is a fast and strong gallop and make it hard for his rivals to keep pace.
