In-from Simon Brandstrom Wins World Poker Tour UK
Simon Brandstrom’s remarkable 2019 got even better last weekend with victory in the World Poker Tour United Kingdom.
The $3,300 entry competition, staged at Nottingham’s Dusk ‘til Dawn card room, attracted 690 entries and it was the Swedish player that entered the final table as chip leader …and managed to maintain his advantage until the final hand was dealt.
Successful in Barcelona’s EPT main event just five weeks ago, and recipient of €187,880 when coming second in a WPT DeepStacks Barcelona in March, 37-year-old Brandstrom bolstered his career winnings by a further $330,000 for his latest remarkable victory.
And there you have it, Simon Brandstrom is your new @WPT Champion and he takes home $330,000 after making a gutsy call at the end. Congratulations to Simon and also to Ryan Mandara who takes home $221,650 for his second place finish. pic.twitter.com/DujzOefePZ

Whilst poker playing remains a legal grey area, the 14 people arrested at the end of September for playing poker in two Kolkata/Calcutta restaurants are now unlikely to be prosecuted on their original charges of criminal conspiracy, cheating, and assorted violations of the West Bengal Gambling and Prize Competition Act.
