Day five of Royal Ascot has plenty of promise and our tipster Gavin Beech hopes to end the week on a high with another set of tips. Don’t forget to check out the latest Royal Ascot free bets before placing your bets on Saturday’s action.

3.40 Hardwicke Stakes

1pt each-way Broome - best odds 11/2 with William Hill

Hurricane Lane looks worth taking on given this is his first run since he finished a fine third in the Arc and, given how effective he is on soft ground, he’ll surely find conditions lively enough.

With the dead eight runners going to post, this has the ideal shape for an each-way play against the jolly and the one to side with is Broome who would go close here if at the top of his game.

He’s the only Group 1 winner in the line-up besides the favourite and, unlike some of his rivals, he’s ideally suited by a mile and a half. He posted a career-best effort on the numbers when tackling firm ground in the Breeders’ Cup so conditions shouldn’t faze him and he’s entitled to come on plenty for that Curragh reappearance.

4.20 Platinum Jubilee Stakes

0.5pts each-way Minzaal - best odds 18/1 with Bet365

No surprise Aussie raider Home Affairs is a warm order given he finished in front of easy King’s Stand Stakes winner Nature Strip two starts back, but he’s a short price with betting sites in a race that feels a lot more open than the odds imply. At double-figure odds, it looks worth taking a chance on Minzaal leaving behind his York reappearance and realising the potential that he has for so long promised.

The talented son of Mehmas has only seen the track three times since 2020 but was only beaten by two lengths in the Group 1 British Champions Sprint over this course and distance in October despite ground conditions being easy enough.

He should relish these quicker conditions and if the cheekpieces can have a positive effect, he has the ability to run a big race.

5.00 Wokingham Stakes

0.5pts Jumby - best odds 16/1 with Paddy Power

Arguably the toughest race of the week and no shortage of genuine candidates. However, a strongly run six furlongs on a stiff track and on fast ground is the ideal set up for Jumby and the booking of William Buick, who has been on board for two of his last three wins, is another plus.

Jumby is only 1lb higher than when landing a hot handicap at Newmarket in September and he can be forgiven for his latest slightly below-par run as he blew the start in a race that was dominated by horses that raced near the speed. Proving he breaks on terms, he’s got sound claims at decent odds with multiple horse racing betting sites.

6.10 Queen Alexandra Stakes

1pt each-way Reshoun - best odds 28/1 with William Hill

The longest race of the entire meeting to wrap things up and stamina is clearly the order of the day. Trueshan surely needs the rain to come if he’s going to participate but it would be better for us if he did run because that would hold up the prices for everything else.

Reshoun makes particularly strong appeal given how well he ran in Tuesday’s Ascot Stakes despite being poorly placed throughout.

He’s a Royal Ascot winner having won that Ascot Stakes in 2021, he loves fast ground, he’ll stay this trip and he’s clearly in form. That is an awful lot of positives for a horse that is 28/1, so he gets the vote to make amends for that somewhat unlucky effort earlier in the week.
