Betting sites are offering odds on next season’s Premier League title race and Manchester City are odds-on to defend their crown.

Pep Guardiola’s side have won five titles in six seasons as the Citizens only appear to be getting stronger and stronger each year.

That’s why most bookmakers go around 1.66 on City defending their title again next season, which looks a fair enough price considering they have dominated the league of late.

The addition of Erling Haaland worked wonders for City, as the Norwegian goal machine scored an amazing 36 goals in just 35 appearances in his first season in the Premier League.

Liverpool, who have finished runners-up to City three times in the past 10 seasons, are marginally expected to put up the strongest fight, with football betting sites going around 9.0 on the Reds next term.

Arsenal and Man Utd are next in the betting at 10.0 apiece. Erik ten Hag's men bounced back well after a rocky start, but Arsenal look a better value pick as their young squad will only improve with time and they should have learned plenty from last year's title challenge.

Newcastle qualified for the top four for the first time in 20 years after they enjoyed a fantastic season. They are certainly a team trending in the right direction and with the financial backing they will receive in the transfer market, odds of 15.0 could look big by the time next season gets underway.

Chelsea finished the season tamely and have therefore been handed long odds of 17.0 with betting apps, making them sixth favourites – the Blues also face a challenging summer in the transfer market after failing to qualify for the Champions League.

Major Outsiders

The list beyond the top six clubs in the betting is trivial at best, with Spurs (40.0) not expected to mount much of a challenge having finished outside the top four in 2022/23.

Brighton fans may fancy a small wager on their club at 50.0 with bet365 though. The Seagulls have been one of the most consistent teams in the Premier League in 2023 and could improve again next season.

Beyond that, Aston Villa (200.0) and West Ham (250.0) have challenged for Champions League positions in recent years but it would take a remarkable set of circumstances to see either of them becoming City’s biggest problem.
