EPL Betting Advice: Picks, Analysis for Week 9

The Premier League is back after a stunning set of results last weekend. For one of the few times in history, three players bagged hat tricks, while Sunday’s Manchester derby was the highest-scoring in league history.

Following is our betting advice for this weekend’s matches, with all eyes set to turn to the monumental game between Arsenal and Liverpool.

Game of the Week

Liverpool 2.60 at Arsenal 2.55

What a game awaits Sunday as Liverpool travels to Arsenal.

The Gunners are still atop the standings in what has been their best start to a Premier League season without Arsene Wenger as manager. After a 3-0 victory over FK Bodø/Glimt in the Europa League, they have won nine of their 10 games this season.

Liverpool bounced back from a 3-3 tie with Brighton, notching a 2-0 victory against the Rangers in the Champions League on Tuesday. Arsenal has only defeated Liverpool once in the past seven years of Premier League action, and now seems the perfect time to exact some revenge.

Liverpool also can move into the top four if other results go its way this weekend, while Arsenal will lose first place in the league if it fails to win and Manchester City beats Southampton.

A 2-2 tie is 11.00 with DraftKings.

Best Bet of the Week

Tottenham 2.60 at Brighton 2.75

Tottenham Hotspur will travel to Brighton this weekend looking to bounce back from a crushing north London derby loss. It fell 3-1 to rival Arsenal last weekend, but it remains three points ahead of Brighton with both teams in the top four right now.

The Seagulls tied 3-3 with Liverpool last weekend as Leandro Trossard scored a hat trick at Anfield, but they did lead the game 2-0 at one stage and ended up trailing 3-2 in the second half. Nevertheless, it was a commendable point and Brighton will be looking for its first win under head coach Roberto De Zerbi.

We’re backing a Tottenham win here, as Antonio Conte looks desperate to move on from the north London derby loss. Tottenham also tied 0-0 with Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League on Tuesday and rested some important players in preparation for this game.

Tottenham to win 2-1 is 10.00 with FanDuel.

Team of Last Week

Manchester City

Beating your rivals is one thing, but after demolishing them 6-3, Manchester City is an easy choice for the team of last week. The champions went up 4-0 in the first half of the Manchester derby, as Phil Foden and Erling Haaland ran riot at Etihad Stadium. Both players would secure hat tricks, as City ended up leading the game 6-1.

A late flurry of goals from United resulted in a 6-3 win for the Citizens. The combined total marked the highest-scoring Manchester derby in Premier League history.

City to beat Southampton 4-0 is 10.00 with FanDuel.

Player of Last Week

Erling Haaland, Manchester City

Although Foden also is deserving of this honor, as he also scored a hat trick, we’re once again going for Haaland. The Norwegian bullied United’s defense throughout the game, as he has done to practically every team he has played. In fact, Haaland has only failed to score in one game this season, and with an assist in the Manchester derby, he was involved in four of the six goals.

The 22-year-old is already breaking records and poised to break a boatload more.

Haaland to score a goal assisted by De Bruyne is 4.00 with FanDuel.

Hardest Game to Call

Man United 2.05 at Everton 3.60

Although United is the favorite to beat Everton, it is tough to back the Red Devils after another humiliation at the hands of City. United now sits sixth in the Premier League, nine points behind league leader Arsenal. It also has allowed 14 goals in seven games; only four teams have let in more, and two of them are inside the relegation zone.

What’s more, Everton has turned a corner this season with two wins in a row. At Goodison Park, the atmosphere will be electric as the team seeks win No. 3.

Everton also has a chance to jump ahead of rival Liverpool with a win, provided Liverpool fails to beat Arsenal a few hours beforehand. This no doubt adds fuel to the fire for the Toffees.

We don’t think Everton will win, however, and we can’t see how United gets the victory after a narrow 3-2 win against Cypriot team Omonia Nicosia on Thursday.

A tie in this game is 3.40 with DraftKings.
