Australian Open Predictions:

Novak Djokovic has been installed as the odds-on favourite to win a 10th Australian Open title after his three-year ban was overturned.

The top betting sites have released odds on the various contenders for glory in Melbourne, and Djokovic is best priced at 5/6 to lift the trophy.

The Serbian superstar missed last year’s event after his visa was cancelled following his refusal to receive a Covid-19 vaccine.

Rafa Nadal stormed to victory in his absence, but Djokovic has now been allowed to return to Melbourne, and he will bid to regain his crown.

However, he faces fierce competition from Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Nadal, so he will need to be at his brilliant best to vanquish his rivals.

We have previewed the men’s singles tournament and provided our top tips below.

Australian Open Men’s Singles Betting

The Australian Open is the first Grand Slam of the year, and it begins on Monday, January 16 at Melbourne Park.

It features prize money of A$76.5 million (€49.2 million), making it the second most lucrative tournament of 2023 after the US Open.

The men’s singles tournament features 128 leading players, who will battle it out for glory over two intense weeks.

World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz has withdrawn from the event after sustaining an injury to his right leg and Nick Kyrgios has also pulled out, so defending champion Nadal is the top seed.

The big news is the return of Djokovic, who is just one Grand Slam behind Nadal in the battle to become the most decorated male player of all time.

He goes into the tournament as the No. 4 seed, with Norway’s Casper Ruud at No. 2 and Tsitsipas at No. 3.

Back Djokovic To Win The Australian Open

Djokovic fully deserves his status as the favourite to win a 10th Australian Open title this month with tennis betting sites.

He has a 91% win record at Melbourne Park over the years, and he has not tasted defeat at this tournament since 2018.

The Serb swept his rivals aside in 2019, 2020 and 2021, and he was the heavy favourite to extend that record last year, only to be deported following a row over his vaccine status.

That also caused him to miss last year’s US Open, but it only seems like a matter of time before he overtakes Nadal’s haul of Grand Slams.

Djokovic emerged victorious in four of his last six Grand Slam appearances - the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon in 2021 and Wimbledon last year.

The only exceptions were the 2021 US Open, when he lost to Medvedev in the final, and a tight defeat to clay court specialist Nadal at last year’s French Open.

He warmed up for this tournament with a 6-3 6-4 win against Medvedev in the final of the Adelaide International, which bodes well for his chances of success.

There was an injury scare recently, but if he is fully fit, Djokovic should surge to victory at this tournament.

Auger-Aliassime Could Hit His Stride

Felix Auger-Aliassime

Felix Auger-Aliassime, who is 22/1 to win the tournament with betting apps - has climbed up to seventh in the ATP world rankings after winning four titles last year.

He was superb at the Davis Cup, where he teamed up with Denis Shapovalov and Vasek Pospisil to lead Canada to victory over Australia in the final.

Now Auger-Aliassime will take on Pospisil in an all-Canadian first round clash at the Australian Open, and he should get the job done.

He has landed in Quarter 2, along with Tsitsipas, Jannik Sinner, Cameron Norrie and Borna Coric.

He looks like the most talented player in that group right now, so odds of 7/2 on him getting through to the semi-finals look appealing.

Tip: Felix Auger-Aliassime To Win Quarter 2 - 7/2 With Ladbrokes

Hard Court Specialist Fritz Looks Dangerous

Medvedev should get the better of Nadal in Quarter 1, and odds of 11/10 on him to make the last eight on new betting sites look appealing, while Djokovic should dominate Quarter 3.

Quarter 4 looks wide open, featuring second seed Casper Ruud, Italy’s Matteo Berrettini and the highly talented Alexander Zverev.

However, they could all be overpowered by hard court specialist Taylor Fritz, who has recently beaten Medvedev, Zverev, Berrettini and Hubert Hurkacz in exhibition events leading up to this tournament.

Fritz reached the fourth round at last year’s Australia Open, where he ultimately lost to Tsitsipas in four sets.

He has been on an upward curve since then, reaching the quarter-finals at Wimbledon and rising to No. 9 in the ATP rankings.

He is priced at 11/4 to claim Quarter 4 of this tournament, which looks like an interesting punt.
