The top-performing goalkeeper, which will be determined by the FIFA Technical Study Group, will win the prize after Sunday’s final between Argentina and France.
The Albiceleste booked their spot in the showpiece event at the Lusail Iconic Stadium by beating Croatia 3-0 on Tuesday, before France registered a 2-0 triumph over Morocco 24 hours later.

Bounou Stars as Morocco Make Continental History
Morocco have been the surprise package at this World Cup. After topping their group ahead of Croatia, Belgium and Canada, the Atlas Lions stunned Spain and Portugal in the knockout phase, before going down 2-0 to France on Wednesday.
Their run to the last four was a collective effort, but Yassine Bounou has undoubtedly been one of the stars of Africa’s first semi-finalists.
The Canada-born shot-stopper missed the victory over Belgium that got the ball rolling for Morocco, with Munir Mohamedi replacing him in the XI on that occasion.
But in his five appearances at this World Cup, Bounou has kept three clean sheets – against Croatia, Spain and Portugal, no less.
He also saved two Spanish penalties in the shoot-out at the end of that last-16 tie.
He was unable to keep France out on Wednesday, but neither goal could be blamed on the 31-year-old.
Bounou has proved himself to be an adept shot-stopper, while he also radiates calm to those in front of him.
At 7/4, he is the favourite with football betting sites to win the award going into the weekend.
Martinez Will Take Some Stopping if Argentina Triumph
Emiliano Martinez was the main reason for Argentina’s penalty shoot-out triumph over the Netherlands in the quarter-finals, keeping out the Dutch’s first two efforts to hand his side the initiative.
He then kept a clean sheet in the 3-0 victory over Croatia that saw Argentina through to Sunday’s final.
Martinez has now kept three shut-outs at this World Cup. He is a big personality who organises the defence in front of him, while also saving shots and claiming crosses.
The Aston Villa glovesman looks completely at home in an Argentina shirt, which is quite the achievement when you consider he only made his senior international debut last year.
Martinez may need his team to emerge triumphant on Sunday to beat Bounou to the prize.
Were he to concede two or three goals in a defeat by France, Argentina’s No.23 might struggle to finish in first place in the goalkeeper vote. For now, he is 9/4 with betting apps to do just that.
Lloris Aiming to Captain France to Glory Once More
France are striving to become only the third team in World Cup history to win back-to-back editions of the tournament, after Brazil (1958 and 1962) and Italy (1934 and 1938).
Hugo Lloris was the captain and first-choice goalkeeper four years ago in Russia and he remains in both roles in 2022.
France’s attack has outshone its defence so far, but the defending champions finally kept their first clean sheet of the tournament on Wednesday night.
Lloris was on hand to deny Morocco on a few occasions, as the Atlas Lions saw their remarkable journey come to an end.
The Tottenham Hotspur skipper is past his best and this may well be his last international tournament.
But Lloris is still a fantastic shot-stopper on his day, with reflexes to rival those of any other goalkeeper at World Cup 2022.
A clean sheet on Sunday could get him over the line, so odds of 9/2 with World Cup betting sites may be tempting for some.
Livakovic Drops From Favourite to Fourth on List
Going into this week’s semi-finals, Dominik Livakovic was the 2/1 favourite to win the Golden Glove.
He is now only fourth on the list, having seen his price lengthen to 6/1 after Croatia’s 3-0 loss to Argentina on Tuesday.
Livakovic gave away a penalty in that game and was unable to keep a clean sheet for the third match in a row.
He was one of Croatia’s heroes in the shoot-outs at the end of their clashes with Japan and Brazil, helping Zlatko Dalic’s side through to the semi-finals for a second successive World Cup.
Livakovic only had one cap ahead of the competition in Russia four years ago; he is now Croatia’s No.1 after Danijel Subasic hung up his gloves.
He has had an excellent tournament in the main, but the Golden Glove will almost certainly elude him when the award is handed out on Sunday.
