LeoVegas Sports Review

Author

LeoVegas have good reason to reckon they are the King of the Gambling Jungle — they’ve been around since 2012 as an established online casino, and in 2016 they launched their comprehensive sports betting service.

They pride themselves (get it?) on offering a completely comprehensive betting service, and are a household name in the likes of the UK, where they are all over the telly.

Now Kiwis can get stuck in whether they want a punt on the pitch or a flutter on the gallops.

Let’s go over the ins and outs of this sportsbook in our LeoVegas Sports review, how they operate, and how Kiwi punters can get involved.

Pros Cons
Excellent 24/7 Support for Kiwis Smaller games and sports leagues may not have full in-game stats
Competitive odds
In-play/live betting is great

LeoVegas Sports is a leader of the sports betting pack, and so their welcome bonus is really something to sink your teeth into.

It’s simple but effective — they’ll match you 100% up to $50 for your first deposit. So, if your first deposit is the $10 minimum, they’ll match you with a $10 LeoVegas free bet. Deposit $20, you get a $20 free bet — you get the idea.

There is no promo code required, just make your first deposit, and click on the Promotions tab at the top of the page and claim your LeoVegas free bet.

As always, there is some small print, but nothing too complicated:

  • LeoVegas Sport’s Welcome Bonus is only for new Kiwi players.
  • The maximum LeoVegas Sports will match you is $50.
  • You can claim the LeoVegas free bet within 14 days of your first deposit.
  • Once you claim the LeoVegas free bet, you have to use it within three days.
  • The LeoVegas free bet/s can only be used on odds of $1.50 or higher.
  • Qualifying bets must be placed with real cash. Cashed out, voided bets, or system bets will not count.
  • You won’t qualify for the offer if you pay through Skrill or Neteller.

Just a wee note, in our LeoVegas Sports review, we found some of the pages might have Euros instead of NZ dollars — don’t worry about it, it’s just a typo — just consider them as Kiwi Dollars.

Oh and also, this special offer is only available through the link from our page. We negotiated a cracking deal and the normal offer has less-favourable terms.

Promotions Available from LeoVegas Sports

LeoVegas Sports doesn’t have a ton of ongoing promos — well more specifically, they have only one ongoing promo for Kiwi punters.

LeoVegas Live Club — Weekly Offers on Live Sports

If you bet live on any sport at LeoVegas Sports, you can win up to 12 weekly free bets and profit boosts. LeoVegas Free bets are self-explanatory, and profit boosts are where they’ll multiply your winnings.

There are also monthly cash prizes for the top 40 scorers — the first ranked scorer will win $1,500 in cash.

Please note that on some other reviews they might list more promos — but they are incorrect. This LeoVegas Sports review has the definitive list of promos available to New Zealanders.

Need a bonus? Find all LeoVegas Bonus Codes right here on Gambling.com.

While based in Europe, LeoVegas Sports have all of the codes a Kiwi could wish for, especially the big ones.

Cricket punters can bet on the Ford Trophy, international Twenty20, one dayers, tests, and more.

If you fancy a flutter on the rugby you can bet on NPC Mitre 10 Cup markets, Super Rugby, test matches and a whole lot more.

All of your favourite Rugby League competitions are there as well, including the NRL, World Cup, State of Origin and Super League.

Football markets include the A-League, UEFA Champions League and Premier League, while Aussie Rules fans can take a punt on the AFL and basketball bettors can get stuck into NBL and NBA betting.

Golf, motorsports, horse racing and greyhounds are all included and if you’re willing to go a bit deeper into the sports betting world, LegoVegas Sports also has a ton of others. These include American football, baseball, boxing, darts, Esports, tennis, WWE and cycling.

LeoVegas Sports Betting Features

It’s pretty clear that LeoVegas Sports isn’t messing around when it comes to offering Kiwi punters the latest in sports betting technology. They have a lot of experience in the sports betting industry, and it shows.

The Kambi Group provides the sports data for LeoVegas, and it’s great. In big leagues like the Champions League, NBA, etc, you can get down into the nitty-gritty of what’s going on.

At the top of the page, you have the option to click on LIVE for live games with the live betting stats, or you can click on UPCOMING for future fixtures.

While doing our LeoVegas Sports review, we were watching the live stats on a game in La Liga, and we could follow the movement of the ball with an on-screen graphic/match visualiser, see which side was attacking more, and how many shots on target each side had. Honestly, there’s more data than you can poke a stick at.

To the left of the screen, the live betting options are updating in real-time, so if something happens that gives you a hunch, you can take advantage straightaway.

It’s unlikely you’ll get that sort of detail in smaller sports leagues like the NPC and domestic cricket, but then again, you’ve probably got that on the telly or streaming on your phone anyway.

For horse racing, sadly they didn’t have the New Zealand tracks, only UK, Australia, and South Africa.

If you have a multi-bet or an accumulator on the boil, there is no option to cash out early if you don’t see things going your way. There are however some single bets you can cash out of. To figure out what you can cash out of, click on open bets, and then the qualifying bets will have a cash out button.

When you go to place your bet, your betslip shows the bet you’re going to make, whether cash out is available, the potential payout, and your balance. It’s all pretty clear and makes for easy betting. You then have the option to leave the betslip open as a tab or check out all of the details of your bets under 'My Bets'.

In-Play Betting at LeoVegas Sports

In-play Betting or live betting is a big feature at LeoVegas sports. Nearly every sport has the option for in-play betting, with live options changing in real-time.

Even while watching a low-key cricket game between Trinidad & Tobago and Jamaica for our LeoVegas Sports review, we had heaps of in-play betting options to play with.

Live Streaming at LeoVegas Sports

At least in New Zealand, there aren’t any live streaming options available through LeoVegas Sports. This would be a nice-to-have, but not a deal-breaker for us. If you are hell-bent on watching the game, you’ll have it on the telly. We see LeoVegas Sports as a great companion while you’re watching the game.

Registration Process at LeoVegas Sports

We get that signing up for a sports betting site that isn’t the TAB might give you some doubts, but rest assured it’s all legit. To put your mind at ease, during our LeoVegas Sports review we went through the registration process for you so you know exactly what kind of info they are after.

  1. Click on Bet Now, which is on our offer at the top of the screen.
  2. Click on Join Now.
  3. Select the sports bonus on the left. The other bonuses are for LeoVegas Casino’s stuff.
  4. Either register directly through your Google or Facebook account, or through your email. If you choose your email, enter your email, choose your password, and enter your phone number.
  5. Enter your name, address, date of birth, and agree to the terms and conditions.
  6. You’re ready to go!

Registration only takes about two minutes. Every detail they ask for is purely for your security, so there is nothing to worry about in terms of privacy.

When you enter your name, make sure you put it exactly the same as your photo ID. This is because you’ll need to provide a photo ID when you cash out, so they know that it’s actually you getting the money.

Depositing and Withdrawing at LeoVegas Sports

We love that LeoVegas Sports minimum deposit is only $10 as it makes it easy for the casual betters to have a crack without spending the big bucks.

Just remember that when you make your first withdrawal, you’ll need to verify your contact details through photo ID. You’ll also have to cash out into the same method you deposited with — this is standard practice for security.

LeoVegas Sports Desktop Experience

LeoVegas Sports' desktop experience is pretty easy to find your way around once you have a quick look around.

The first thing you’ll see is all of the live games happening right now, and you can also see the upcoming games with the next tab over.

You can browse sports, or just search for them in the search function.

You can add sports to your favourites list so that you can get to them quickly.

If you’re browsing from their mobile site, it’s slightly different to accommodate the smaller screen, but everything is all there.

LeoVegas Sports Mobile App

LeoVegas Sports has actually won awards for their apps, available on both Android and iOS. However, these apps are not available through your normal app stores. This is probably because Google and Apple won’t allow betting apps.

If you head to their apps page, they have full details on how to get them. It’s nothing too complicated, just a few extra steps than usual.

The app itself is very similar to the mobile website, with all the bells and whistles of the desktop site. Once you’ve logged in normally for the first time, you’ll be able to log in with just a fingerprint after that (if available on your mobile device).

Betting Odds at LeoVegas Sports

During our LeoVegas Sports reviews, we found the odds on LeoVegas Sports to be pretty favourable as they do their best to match the world’s biggest sports betting sites. They also offer profit boosts on selected sports and games where they will multiply your winnings.

By default, our odds were set to decimal, but if you go into the settings, you can change them to fractional or American.

If you want to take advantage of the ever-changing live odds, you can set an automatic response to any increase or decrease in price.

LeoVegas Sports Customer Support

LeoVegas has plenty of online support in terms of FAQs, but the best way for Kiwis to get help is through their 24/7 live chat support. And let’s face it, we’re on the other side of the world from these European sports betting agencies, so we need it.

They got back to us in less than two minutes and were super helpful. Great customer support all round from LeoVegas Sports.

VIP/Loyalty Programmes at LeoVegas Sports

If you’re such a prodigious punter that you feel like you should have the red carpet rolled out every time you place a bet, LeoVegas Sports might have a wee treat for you.

Getting into LeoVegas Sport’s VIP programme is pretty easy — all you have to do is agree to receive their promotional material either through email or text message. You can choose to do that when you sign up, or at any other time from your settings page.

After you’ve done that, you’ll see a wee progress bar at the top right of your screen. That bar shows the percentage level of how close you are to reaching the next level of the LeoVegas Sports VIP Programme. The more you bet, the higher your VIP level with LeoVegas Sports.

Every month LeoVegas Sports will give away some pretty sweet stuff like Beats by Dre or Apple gear. You are automatically entered, and the higher your VIP level, the more entries you get.

Pretty good stuff and we were pleased to see LeoVegas Sports including Kiwis on this one, as often we get bypassed for the cool prizes.

LeoVegas Sports Responsible Gambling Features

Having a little bit on a game is a long-held tradition for Kiwis, and it’s a hell of a lot of fun. However, if it starts to be a little less than just fun, you’ll want to get some help.

Thankfully LeoVegas Sports is a responsible sports betting agency, and they’ve got heaps of help waiting if you need it.

If you feel like things are getting a bit out of control, LeoVegas Sports has a dedicated ‘LeoSafePlay’ website where you can do a self-assessment, set wagering limits, time limits, deposit limits, and more.

Thumbs up to LeoVegas Sports for being on the front foot here.

Our Verdict for LeoVegas Sports

LeoVegas Sports is a household name in the UK and Europe for a reason — they have a lot to offer and they do it well.

The football and other big-league games have incredible in-game stats and graphics and really add to both the viewing and betting experience. The only downside is that these incredible in-depth stats aren’t done for smaller sports or leagues.

All in all though we definitely recommend having a nosey at LeoVegas Sports — they might be your favourite alternative to the TAB, and that cheeky $50 LeoVegas free bet doesn’t go astray either.
