Impeach hasn’t had many goes over 5f and given how he has failed to get home in 6f contests the last twice, it’s worth another shot. One of his best efforts over this distance came when beaten a nose at Sandown last July (off this mark), so there is a question of whether Yarmouth will provide enough of a stamina test. The ground will have an ease in it, however, and that might help him to show his worth.

I liked his spin at Kempton two runs ago when second to The Green Man and the third won since to give the form a boost. He wasn’t as good at Chelmsford under more patient tactics last time but wasn’t beaten far and shaped as if still in good form. Neil Callan taking over in the saddle is a big plus and if he gets into a rhythm over this trip, he has enough talent to be fighting out the finish. 10/1 is worth the risk.

16:30 Yarmouth – Concierge – 1pt @ 5/1

Concierge has two wins and a couple of places from seven outings when ridden by Luke Morris and I think the pair have a solid chance to win this. He was below-par at Chelmsford last time (behind Impeach!) but had a wide trip there and it was a 0-80 contest, which is well above the level he needs to be competing at. This is a 0-65, the lowest grade he has ever got the chance to run in and that will be a help.

His return last month from 149 days off was his first 0-70 outing and he ran well there, staying on from the back of the field to grab fourth. He’s 3lbs lower in the weights now and a similar level of form would see him right up with the best of these. An ease underfoot is no problem (last two turf wins on good-to-soft) and if he’s where he needs to be for this, he could outclass the majority of them.
