If you are looking for a new horse racing or greyhounds betting website, BetGoodwin is likely to hold plenty of appeal.
From a single betting shop in 1997 to one of gambling’s premier telephone betting firms, BetGoodwin joined the growing list of online betting sites by launching their own in 2022.
BetGoodwin has steadily expanded its online operation, but racing has remained at the core of its business. That’s not to say non-racing bettors won’t find something to enjoy on BetGoodwin.
With free bets, money-back offers, price boosts, competitive odds and a large selection of markets for other sports, they rank as one of the best online boomakers to have launched in recent years.
BetGoodwin’s sign-up bonus offers new punters 50% back on all first day losses up to £25.
If you can't find a winner on that first day, it doesn't rank among the most lucrative welcome bonuses, but it does offer you something of a safety net on those initial wagers.
To qualify for the offer, bettors will need to place a minimum of three bets of £10 or more on a sportsbook selection with odds of Evens (2.0) or greater.
You’ll receive your free bets within 24 hours and have seven days to wager them on whichever sport you like.
It’s a fairly simple offer with few restrictions on how any free bets you earn are spent.
All of BetGoodwin’s permanent offers are greyhound or horse racing related, offering punters money back for various losing scenarios.
Several of the offers cover every horse race in the UK and Ireland. That kind of promotional coverage is unmatched among other horse racing betting sites.
But racing isn’t everyone’s cup of tea and football bettors, in particular, are likely to find a good range of offers during the season.
BetGoodwin is potentially underrated among football betting sites, running some good offers and price boosts on a regular basis.
During major tournaments, BetGoodwin have been known to run money back offers, predominantly based around the England men’s team.
You’ll also find ‘bet X, get Y in free bets' promos crop up on BetGoodwin. It’s worth following BetGoodwin’s social channels to see when these offers go live, while they’ll also give away free cash prizes in competitions centred around football on occasion.
BetGoodwin’s track record suggests football bettors can also expect boosted odds on accumulators and bet builders for Premier League fixtures.
The promos page sells BetGoodwin short when it comes to football betting, but a bit of digging quickly reveals how much they tend to offer football bettors.
This is where BetGoodwin comes into its own. They offer four money-back as a free bet offers, each worth up to £100 and two of which are active every day.
If your selection is beaten by a nose or finishes second to a 50/1 shot or bigger, BetGoodwin will refund your stake in free bets.
During the National Hunt season, punters can also get their money back as a free bet if their selection falls at the last when leading or is beaten by under half a length in a chase.
Best Odds Guaranteed are also offered on all UK and Irish races on bets placed from 10am on race day and punters will find extra place races on BetGoodwin daily.
When the big festivals roll around, BetGoodwin will run a number of bet boosts and specials as part of their Grand National, Royal Ascot and Cheltenham betting offers.
Greyhound punters can avail BetGoodwin’s beaten by a short head offer, available on all UK and Irish races.
The promotion sees stakes returned as a free bet, up to £100, if your selection finishes second by the official distance of a short head.
When it comes to other sports, we found a good selection of boosted bets on the BetGoodwin homepage for a range of sports, including Formula 1.
BetGoodwin give their in-play section pride of place on their betting site and app, and as live betting sites go, it meets the standards punters have come to expect for the most part.
There’s a good selection of sports covered, everything from football to Esports betting, and most events have a range of regularly updated markets.
Each in-play match market is well presented with a live stats pack and a graphical representation of the event at the top of the page.
BetGoodwin need to give bettors some means to follow the action as they are lagging behind other betting sites with live streaming by only offering live streams of horse racing.
My other gripe with BetGoodwin’s in-play service is that the desktop site doesn’t clearly indicate which markets they offer cash out and partial cash out on.

BetGoodwin have a version of a bet builder tool which they call create a bet. At the moment, punters can only use the tool on football matches from selected competitions.
BetGoodwin do come up with their own create a bet wagers for other sports, which they then juice up the odds on as part of their bet boosts, but bettors can only build their own versions for football games.
Create a bet is available on various leagues and competitions, not as many as some of their rivals, but enough to satisfy the majority of football bettors, and it is very simple to piece together a bet builder.
The number of selections you can have on each create a bet is decided on a match-by-match basis. When I contacted BetGoodwin for clarification, they said for a Premier League game, it tends to be a maximum of seven legs, but that can change.

I probably spent more of my time using BetGoodwin on the iOS app than the desktop site. As betting apps go, it's pretty basic, but that's also part of it's appeal.
It's easy to use and I ad no issues placing a bet or speedily jumping from section to section. The app is very heavily geared towards horse racing betting though, more so than the desktop site, so might not be to everyone’s tastes.
BetGoodwin have steadily improved the app over time to bring it in line with its competitors, and most recent reviews have been largely positive, with praise given to the Betgoodwin withdrawal times via the app.
However, because of its previous issues, it has an underwhelming rating of 3.7 out of five on the Apple App Store and a dreadful score of 2.3 on Google Play.
In this reviewer’s opinion, those ratings don’t accurately reflect the current app, which offers a functional but no-frills mobile betting service.

BetGoodwin is the online version of the still popular telephone betting service Goodwin Racing, so I was surprised to see you can’t get in contact with BetGoodwin’s customer support team via the phone.
Instead, the only two methods available to speak to customer support are live chat and email. I found the live chat to be quick to respond to my queries and they were very helpful in answering my questions.
BetGoodwin do have terms and conditions and betting rules pages you may be able to get answers from, but there’s no specific help section with FAQs like you might find on other betting sites.

Gambling should always be for entertainment purposes only and it’s important to practice responsible gambling when betting online.
BetGoodwin do a good job of promoting their responsible gambling section on their betting site and app. However, I didn’t find that section the easiest to navigate and it could be better organised.
All the information you could want is there, if you can find it, including various pointers on how to stay in control and contact details for gambling addiction organisations, should you need further help.
BetGoodwin provides various tools to help you stay in control of your betting, including deposit limits and self-exclusion from using your account.

BetGoodwin has prided itself on providing an excellent horse racing betting service for many years, and that hasn’t changed with their entry into the online betting sphere.
The rest of its sportsbook still lags a bit behind, but it’s steadily getting better with improvements made, most notably in what it can offer football bettors.
The app has also made strides and I like the fact that it’s a simplistic online bookmaker. However, that won’t be enough for some punters and BetGoodwin need to do a lot more to be on the same level as some of the UK’s biggest betting sites.
A few more permanent offers covering football and some other sports would move BetGoodwin up the pecking order, while they are crying out for some kind of accumulator-based promotion and more payment options.
If you are looking for a racing bookie where you can also occasionally bet on other sports, BetGoodwin is likely to appeal. Those wanting a less specialised bookmaker are probably best served going elsewhere.
