Who Will Appear In Pirates Of The Caribbean 6?
Pirates Of The Caribbean producer Jerry Bruckheimer recently confirmed Disney are planning to "reboot" the movie series, which has sparked plenty of speculation on UK betting sites about who might star in the next motion picture.
While Johnny Depp led the cast of the first five films in the franchise, he was involved in a high-profile defamation case against his ex-wife Amber Heard in June 2022, which he won.
Despite this, Hollywood has largely shut Depp out in recent years, and in May 2022 Bruckheimer said at the time Depp wouldn't be back in Pirates "at this point".
Fast forward nearly two years, and Bruckheimer recently appeared to hint there could be a completely new cast for Pirates 6, when he admitted there will be a reboot of the franchise, because you "don’t have to wait for certain actors".
When speaking about the future of his Top Gun and Pirates franchises, he told ComicBook.com: "It’s hard to tell. You don’t know. You really don’t know. You don’t know how they come together. You just don’t know.
"Because with Top Gun you have an actor who is iconic and brilliant. And how many movies he does before he does Top Gun, I can’t tell you.
"But we’re gonna reboot Pirates, so that is easier to put together because you don’t have to wait for certain actors."
With speculation intensifying that Pirates 6 will feature an entirely new cast, which Hollywood stars will board the franchise?
Rocking The Boat
Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson recently made his WWE return, but he could swap the ring for the rigging by joining the cast of Pirates of the Caribbean 6.
He is 4/6 favourite on new betting sites to do so, and the action movie star would be equally at home portraying either the protagonist or antagonist in a new Pirates production, while Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa is 6/4 to be one of the male actors who take the plunge.
Craig Mazin and Ted Elliott have penned the script for the sixth movie, and Mazin admitted last year he was shocked that Disney signed off on their pitch - because it was a "weird" idea.
He told the Los Angeles Times newspaper: "We pitched it and thought there’s no way they’re buying it, it’s too weird. And they did! And then [we] wrote a fantastic script and the strike happened and everyone’s waiting around."
Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown knows all about weird goings on, and she is Evens favourite to be the leading actress in the movie, while Karen Gillan - who was rumoured to be part of a Pirates spin-off movie a couple of years ago - is 2/1 second favourite to finally make her Pirates of the Caribbean bow.
Robbie To Jump Aboard?
Barbie star Margot Robbie had looked set to lead a female-led Pirates movie recently, but she revealed in November 2022 that it had been shelved.
She told Vanity Fair: "We had an idea and we were developing it for a while, ages ago, to have more of a female-led - not totally female-led, but just a different kind of story - which we thought would’ve been really cool. But I guess they don’t want to do it."
Despite this, Pirates 6 could still feature a female lead, and the likes of Sydney Sweeney (3/1), Florence Pugh (4/1), and Robbie, who is 5/1 on specials betting sites, are sure to be in contention as some of Hollywood's most talked-about actresses.
Dune star Zendaya (6/1) and Wednesday actress Jenna Ortega (7/1) are also in the frame to sign up for the swashbuckling adventure, while X-Men: First Class star Zoe Kravitz (8/1) would be a perfect pirate villain in the movie.
Scott To Set Sail?
Other male actors who could set sail for a sixth film in the franchise include Andrew Scott, who is currently starring in Netflix's Ripley.
The Irish actor is 5/2 on betting apps to appear in Pirates 6, but he could face competition from the likes of Brits Kit Harington (3/1), and David Tennant (7/1).
Another British heartthrob currently in a popular Netflix production is The Gentlemen star Theo James.
He is 6/1 to be part of the new Pirates production, and would be the perfect fit as one of the Turner family, which led by patriarch Will Turner (Orlando Bloom).
What's more, he could pick up some Pirates tips from his Gentlemen co-star Kaya Scodelario, who portrayed Carina Smyth in 2017's Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, the fifth and most recent film in the franchise.
