The BMW PGA Championship takes place at Wentworth this week and betting sites have installed Rory McIlroy as the 6/1 favourite despite his Irish Open disappointment.
Shane Lowry, like McIlroy a former champion at Wentworth, is 14/1 to repeat his success from 2022, but Tommy Fleetwood is the second favourite at 12/1 to win the DP World Tour’s flagship event for the first time.

BMW PGA Championship Betting Tips: Rai Can Go One Better
Aaron Rai has taken to the PGA Tour like a duck to water and capped an excellent season by winning his first title at the Wyndham Championship last month, although he got some help from Max Greyserman's late collapse.
The 29-year-old from Wolverhampton is now just outside the world’s top 20 on the back of five other top 10s and he looks primed to go well at the West Course which favours players who are accurate off the tee and have a great approach game like Rai.
No player has hit more fairways than Rai on the PGA Tour this year and he will be relishing the prospect of getting his hands on his third European Tour/DP World Tour title after last year’s near-miss when Ryan Fox overcame a triple bogey at the third to win by one shot with a closing 67.

Matteo Manassero seemed destined for greatness when he became the youngest European Tour and PGA Championship winner in 2009 and 2013 respectively only to fall from grace in spectacular fashion.
Five years after his Wentworth win, the Italian lost his full playing privileges, dropped to 1,805th in the world rankings and took a few months off from the game to assess his future.
Manassero eventually returned on the Alps Tour, the third division of the men’s game, before making the step up to the Challenge Tour where he spent two winless seasons until he got back to winning ways in Copenhagen and Rome.
Finishing ninth in the Road to Mallorca rankings ensured a return to the main tour which started inauspiciously until he won the Jonsson Workwear Open in South Africa just over six months ago.
Since then, Manassero has had five top 10s, including sixth at the recent British Masters and third at last week’s Irish Open, so his form cannot be questioned.
Manassero’s success has been built on his excellent approach game which should serve him well this week as he returns to the scene of his greatest triumph for the first time in six years.
It would be the ultimate rollercoaster ride if Manny were to lift the trophy once again, but we are on board him being a major contender this week and he can be backed at 35/1 with betting apps as the next of their PGA Championship betting tips.

Of the outsiders, Connor Syme seems to be peaking at the right time for another decent performance around this tight, tree-lined track.
Twelve months ago, the Scot was sitting just two shots off the lead in second place after 54 holes thanks to a brilliant 65, but his hopes went up in smoke with a front-nine 39 on Sunday as he limped home in 10th place.
However, the experience of playing in the final group at the weekend will stand him in good stead in terms of dealing with nerves and his improving form also suggests he can challenge again.

Syme has made the cut in his last six tournaments which started with fourth place at the BMW International Open, won by compatriot Ewen Ferguson.
Despite being played on links courses, top 20 finishes at the Scottish and Irish Opens were also encouraging performances from a player yet to win on the main tour.
Golf betting sites are offering 110/1 on Syme winning this week, but Ladbrokes have 10 each-way places places at 90/1, our third selection this week.

BMW PGA Predictions: Sharma And Kawamura Can Compete
The final two selections are in the top 20 and top 30 markets, and we start with the consistent Shubhankar Sharma, who has made the cut in his last 12 events.
The Indian finished in the top 20 in three of his last five tournaments, including The Open Championship, so he knows how to handle difficult courses.
In five appearances on the West Course, Sharma has been a top-20 hit twice, which included ninth place in 2021 and he has only once missed the cut.
Sharma looks an interesting prospect at 100/1 with Bet365, but we will settle for a top 20 finish at 3/1 as the penultimate selection

Masahiro Kawamura can be backed at 750/1 with new betting sites, so that tells readers that he is not expected to fare well, but stranger things have happened and his performances at Wentworth suggest otherwise.
The Japanese was third heading into the weekend last year and heading for a fourth consecutive top-20 at this course, but a 76-74 finish undid all his good work as he finished mid-table.
His form since finishing seventh at the ISPA Handa Championship in his native country in April has admittedly been woeful, so this is a speculative selection.
Kawamura can be backed at 14/1 with BetVictor for a top-20 finish, but instead we are going with SpreadEx’s offer of 13/2 for a top 30 on a player that needs to draw on good memories of past performances.
