Cheltenham Day 1 Each-Way Tips:

The 2023 Cheltenham Festival has finally arrived and we’re looking forward to the opening day of the meeting.

We don’t get any prizes for predicting Constitution Hill to win the Champion Hurdle, although many customers are looking beyond the favourites and instead hunting down some winners at a big price with online bookmakers.

In this article, we take a look through the Cheltenham Day 1 racecard and identify a number of selections which should be able to go well at a nice price.

Make sure you snap up the biggest number of places if you are betting each-way.

1.30pm Supreme Novices’ Hurdle – Il Etait Temps

Facile Vega will go off favourite to win the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle and perhaps the well-backed son of Quevega will land a popular victory.

However, we’re leaning towards stablemate Il Etait Temps from an each-way perspective, with the five-year-old having produced some impressive performances this season.

His win in the Tattersalls Ireland Novice Hurdle during the Dublin Racing Festival was impressive and he was able to beat Inthepocket by over nine lengths.

Even if Il Etait Temps doesn’t win, he might be chasing Facile Vega home to bring in place money.

2.10pm Arkle Novices’ Chase – Dysart Dynamo

According to horse racing betting sites, only four of the nine runners in the Arkle Chase can realistically win.

El Fabiolo and Jonbon represent no each-way value, although Dysart Dynamo can certainly hit the frame at a bigger price.

The Willie Mullins-trained charge is likely to force a strong gallop from the front and might be able to get closer to El Fabiolo after finishing over 10 lengths behind the latter in the Irish Arkle Novice Chase.

2.50pm Ultima Handicap Chase – Top Ville Ben

We’re going for a selection at a massive price in the Ultima Handicap Chase and you should look to find new betting sites who offers the largest number of places.

While we like the favourite Corach Rambler who appears to be well-handicapped, we are also taking a chance on Top Ville Ben at much bigger odds.

Top Ville Ben

Philip Kirby’s 11-year-old finished an impressive third in the Leopardstown Handicap Chase at the Dublin Racing Festival at 28/1 and might be able to once again hit the frame here.

The horse has bags of stamina, and we believe there’s every chance he could be in the final reckoning.

4.10pm Mares’ Hurdle – Love Envoi

While Honeysuckle and Marie’s Rock are both proving to be warm orders at the head of the betting for what looks like a spectacular renewal of the Mares’ Hurdle, we’re going to throw a dart at Love Envoi instead.

The seven-year-old has been foot perfect this season and claimed consecutive victories, with the latest of these coming in a mares’ hurdle at Sandown in early January.

Love Envoi won the Mares Novices’ Hurdle at the Festival last year and could be capable of serving it up to some of her more experienced adversaries.

4.50pm Boodles Hurdle – Sir Allen

Andrew Slattery could have an interesting runner on his hands in the Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle and Sir Allen has achieved consecutive victories in the lead-up to the Cheltenham Festival.

He won a novice hurdle at Naas roughly a month ago and that came after beating a big field in a maiden hurdle at Punchestown. Further improvement is expected here at the Festival.

5.30pm National Hunt Chase – Chemical Energy

Gaillard Du Mesnil is trading as a short-priced favourite to win the National Hunt Challenge Cup with betting apps.

However, we’re going to have an each-way play on Chemical Energy who looks tailor-made for this race.

Gordon Elliott’s runner was off the pace at Naas last time out but ran fairly well in the Martin Pipe last year and we’re reassured by Jamie Codd being in the saddle.
