Horse Racing Tips: Best Betting Tips & Odds for Saturday
Saturday's Horse Racing Tips
- 13:23 Punchestown - Affordale Fury @ 7/2 with BetVictor
- 14:05 Ascot - Strong Leader @ 11/2 with Boylesports
- 15:00 Haydock - Protektorat @ 9/4 with bet365
After an 11/2 winner with Broadway Boy at Cheltenham last weekend, our racing analyst Cian Kirby is back to look at jumps racing meetings from Punchestown, Haydock and Ascot.
As always, you’ll find the most up-to-date odds with horse racing betting sites, but don’t sleep on our tipster’s predictions as those odds could soon be snapped up by the betting public. Odds stated are correct at the time of publishing.
13:23 Punchestown - Affordale Fury @ 7/2
The Florida Pearl Chase at Punchestown is arguably the race of the weekend as a field of seven runners go to post and none are without a chance.
Flooring Porter heads the market at 11/4 with betting sites and it's easy to see why!
The dual Stayers' Hurdle winner got his chasing career off to the perfect start at Cheltham's October meeting when beating Broadway Boy easily, who went on to frank the form at last weekend's Cheltenham November meeting in devastating fashion.
Noel Meade has won this race three times in his career and he has a fantastic chance to make it a fourth with Affordale Fury this Saturday.
The No Greater Fury gelding was a top-class novice hurdler last year and rounded off his season with second-place finishes in Grade 1 races at the Cheltenham and Punchestown festivals.
He made a smooth transition to the bigger obstacles at Galway last month when accounting for Favori De Champdou easily.
Only a five-year-old, there is loads of improvement to come from him and odds of 7/2 to land the Florida Pearl Chase look appealing as he should take this before going on to bigger and better things over fences.
Tip: 13:23 Punchestown - Affordale Fury @ 7/2 with BetVictor
14:05 Ascot - Strong Leader @ 11/2
This year's Grade 2 Coral Hurdle at Ascot has a very open look to it as all five runners are trading at a single-figure price.
Goshen heads the market at 9/4 with betting apps but he is a difficult horse to predict and he hasn't won a race in his last five attempts.
Sceua Royal is another horse that finds winning tough and the Paul Nicholls-trained Blueking D'Oroux may find life harder outside of four-year-old company, so the one I'm taking a chance on is Strong Leader at 11/2.
Last season, the Westerner gelding was beaten in a Cheltenham bumper by the classy Encanto Bruno before going on to win a trio of novice hurdles.
Those wins teed up a crack at the Supreme Novice's Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival where he ran with credit and he followed that up with a brilliant run at Aintree where he was only just touched off by the talented Inthepocket.
Strong Leader disappointed on his seasonal debut when sent off favourite for the Welsh Champion Hurdle, but the return to better ground at Ascot will suit and if you can forgive him that run, then his odds look very appealing to land this graded contest.
15:00 Haydock - Protektorat @ 9/4
The Betfair Chase stands as one of the most prestigious events in the British National Hunt racing calendar.
This Grade 1 steeplechase, which is held at Haydock Park Racecourse has been won by some of the all-time greats such as Kauto Star, Imperial Commander, Cue Card and A Plus Tard.
Just four runners take their chance in this year's edition as Bravemansgame heads the market at 8/11. Since winning the King George last year I think it's fair to say the eight-year-old has been disappointing.
He followed that victory up with a second-place finish in the Gold Cup, where he was no match for Galopin Des Champs and then blew up at the Punchestown Festival where he could only manage third.
His seasonal reappearance left us with more questions than answers as he looked like the winner throughout but a last fence blunder left the door open for Gentlemansgame who delivered as Bravemansgame folded tamely in the finish.
The Betfair Chase seems like an afterthought for Bravemansgame and with his usual pilot Harry Cobden opting to go to Ascot instead of Haydock, he looks opposable at odds-on here.
Protektorat won this race in impressive fashion last year and he has been kept fresh for his main race target this season, so he looks like a great bet at 9/4 to make it successive Betfair Chase victories for the Skelton's.
