What is a Bet Builder?

A bet builder is a type of accumulator, giving you the option to combine markets from the same game into a multiple. Before bet builders were introduced, you could only combine markets from separate events into an acca. This is why you sometimes see bet builders referred to as 'same-game accas' or 'same-game multis'.

But more often than not, you were restricted on which markets you could combine in a same-game multiple, while a bet builder gives you far greater freedom when making your selections.

We've used the 2024 Champions League final between Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund to come up with an example bet builder, which features selections from five different markets:

MarketOdds
Real Madrid to win8/13
Under 2.5 goals6/5
Vinicius Jr to score anytime6/4
Toni Kroos over 75.5 passes2/5
Borussia Dortmund under 10.5 shots10/11
Combined odds28/1

A bet builder can offer far greater value for money by multiplying the odds on selections you may or may not have backed as single bets. For example, you may not have wagered on Toni Kroos over 75.5 passes on its own at 2/5, but it enhances your odds when part of a 28/1 bet builder.

The main drawback with a bet builder is that one lost leg can sink your whole wager and very few betting sites offer the kind of acca insurance you might find if one selection lets you down on your accumulator.

It's a high-risk, high-reward product that does tend to differ depending on which bookmaker you go to. For that reason, it's worth shopping around before settling on your bet builder site of choice.

Top 10 Best Bet Builder Sites: Ranked and Reviewed

New UK betting sites and more established brands have all adopted bet builders in some form or another and it's now seen as one of the must-have features for a successful online bookmaker.

Gambling.com has been working overtime to review all the oddsmakers now offering bet builders. Here are 10 of our favourite bet builder sites.

bet365 Bet Builder+

Sports Available: Football, Tennis, Basketball, American football, Baseball, Rugby Union, Rugby League, Ice Hockey, Australian Rules, Boxing, MMA, limited overs Cricket, Formula 1 (pre-race only), Handball (pre-match only)

Max Number of Legs: 12

Review

No one offers the bet builder feature on more sports than bet365, which currently covers 14 and is set to add more. It's not just their range of sports that catches the eye, but bet365 often has the best price on events, and their bet builder feature is extremely user-friendly.

The odds for your bet builder are calculated as you add each selection and displayed clearly, meaning there's no confusion on what the final price is going to be. There's also the option to place a bet builder in-play, unless otherwise specified.

Bet365 have a wealth of bet builder options, including the option to combine bet builder bets into one big multiple, or you can integrate bet builder and non-bet builder picks from various events into one bet.

Unibet Bet Builder

Sports Available: Football, American football, Basketball, Baseball, MMA, Australian Rules

Max Number of Legs: 12

Review

Unibet have branched out from offering bet builders on just football to now include six sports, with an extensive range of markets available on each. You can now combine bet builders from different matches or even different sports, giving you plenty of scope to be creative.

Unibet has made its bet builder tool simple to use across its desktop and mobile sites. If you've not used the product before, there's a handy video introduction to bet builders.

There are things we don't like about Unibet's bet builder feature, such as the inability to cash out and it only being available pre-match, but overall it's a solid product.

NetBet Bet Builder

Sports Available: Football, Cricket, Rugby Union, Rugby League, Basketball, American football, Baseball, Ice Hockey, Australian Rules

Max Number of Legs: 6

Review

NetBet have gone big on bet builders and they even feature as part of their sign-up offer, with a £10 free bet builder available to new customers who sign up and bet just £5.

We found that six legs are more than enough in most cases when placing a bet builder, but the six-leg limit may be an issue for those seeking bigger odds.

NetBet's bet builder is available on a wider range of sports than most sites and their bet builder quick bets feature usually has plenty of options, which is handy if you are lacking inspiration or don't have time to put together a bet builder from scratch.

BetVictor Bet Builder

Sports Available: Football, American football, Baseball

Max Number of Legs: Unlimited (max odds 1000/1)

Review

If you enjoy creating bet builders with massive odds then BetVictor is likely to hold some interest. There's no limit on how many legs your bet builder can be made up of, and the max odds of 1000/1 should be large enough for the majority of bettors.

BetVictor's bet builder tool is still largely focused on football, and they regularly have price boosts on some pre-built bet builders for significant fixtures.

They have started branching out by offering baseball and American football bet builders, with a decent range of markets available for both sports, as well as a selection of pre-made bet builders.

QuinnBet Create a Bet

Sports Available: Football

Max Number of Legs: 8

Review

QuinnBet are one of the few bookmakers to offer bet builder insurance and have really embraced the concept with bettors also able to earn free bets when using their Create a Bet function.

There's a £2 free bet available every time you wager £20 or more on a bet builder with three or more legs that has combined odds of 6/4 (2.5).

The insurance kicks in when you place a bet builder of five or more legs with each selection having odds of 3/10 (1.30) or greater. If only one leg of your bet builder lets you down, QuinnBet will refund your stake as a free bet, up to the value of £10.

Those are two great options for bet builder fans. While they only offer bet builders on football right now, they have a strong base from which to branch out.

BetMGM Bet Builder

Sports Available: Football, American football, Basketball, Baseball, Australian Rules

Max Number of Legs: 12

Review

BetMGM are the newest bookmaker on the list and have hit the ground running with their version of the bet builder. They already offer a good range of markets on five different sports and have indicated they are looking to expand their bet builder feature.

They recently launched what they are calling pre-packs, which are bet builders they've put together using their stats. These are only available on football for the time being but there's a good range available with over 20 pre-packs created for the majority of matches.

Bzeebet Bet Builder

Sports Available: Football, Tennis, Rugby Union, Rugby League, Ice Hockey, Cricket, Basketball, Baseball, American football, Australian Rules

Max Number of Legs: 30

Review

Bzeebet perform well when it comes to the number of sports they offer bet builders on. Being able to include up to 30 legs allows bettors to get creative and come up with mega-odds bet builders should they wish.

Bzeebet treats each bet builder as a single bet, so there's the option to combine them with markets from other events. Put enough of them together and you'll be eligible for Bzeebet's combo boost, which can give your payout a significant lift.

Where Bzeebet falls down slightly is the user interface. Bet builder pages are harder to navigate and a little clunky in comparison to their rivals.

Coral Build Your Bet

Sports Available: Football

Max Number of Legs: 10

Review

Coral is another bookmaker that currently only offers football bet builders. However, their Build Your Bet feature does cover over 100 leagues and competitions.

They also offer a huge number of pre-fabricated bet builders and for the big games they have a range of bet builders constructed around star players.

Coral are unique in offering cash out on bet builders. They have a pretty good reputation for fair cash-out value, so it's something to consider if you like to settle your bets early.

10bet Bet Builder

Sports Available: Football, American football, Basketball

Max Number of Legs: Unlimited

Review

10bet have a fine selection of offers and many can be used in connection with bet builders, particularly their football offers. You can earn a £10 free bet when betting £75 or more on football in a week with bet builders counting towards the wagering requirements.

Their welcome offer can also be used on bet builders, while 10bet's '2 is a win' feature, which settles match bets as a winner as soon as one team goes two goals ahead, can help you settle a leg of your bet builder early if betting on the result.

10bet's bet builder is nice and easy to use on desktop and mobile and the only things lacking are more sports and some pre-selected bet builders.

Betfred PickYourPunt

Sports Available: Football, Rugby League, Boxing

Max Number of Legs: 5

Review

Betfred have tried to stand out from the bet builder crowd with their PickYourPunt product, which is largely only available on football but can be found on select events from other sports.

They'll regularly run Champions League betting offers and Premier League promotions where they'll refund your stake as a free bet on losing bet builders for the big games in those competitions. There's also frequent odds boosts on their homemade bet builders.

Furthermore, Betfred will produce a list of popular bet builders so you can see what has caught the eye of other punters.

Where Betfred loses marks is with its limit on the number of legs you can include in a bet builder. Five selections are unlikely to be enough if you want to put together a bet builder with the potential for a large return.

How We Rank The Best Bet Builders

When ranking the best bet builder sites in the UK, we look closely at their specific bet builder product but also run the rule over the betting site as a whole to make sure it's reliable and trustworthy. Some of the factors we take into account when ranking bet builder sites are:

  • Range of Sports & Markets

    Range of Sports & Markets

The best bet builders provide punters with plenty of options. Ideally, you'll be able to place bets on a number of different sports and events. If the focus is more narrow in terms of sports, the range of markets must be impressive. You should be able to include a decent number of legs and if you can combine markets from different matches, it's a bonus.

  • Value of Odds

    Value of Odds

There's no point in having fancy bet builder features and promotions unless the odds are competitive. We don't recommend bookies or betting apps unless they provide value to punters with their odds. A key part of our review process involves comparing betting odds across numerous sites.

  • Cash Out Availability

    Cash Out Availability

Cash out betting sites don't always stretch to offering this service on bet builders, but the sites that do earn high marks from our review team. Extra marks go to the bookies that don't low-ball bettors with their cash out offers, especially if the bet has a good chance of winning.

  • In-Play Options

    In-Play Options

The best bookies for bet builders now allow you to place these bets while a match or event is live. The majority of bookies will restrict bet builder markets after a game has kicked off, but we're always on the hunt for the handful of live betting sites that give you lots of in-play bet builder options.

  • Boosts & Promotions

    Boosts & Promotions

Many betting sites now have numerous promotions that can be applied to bet builders. Some of the bonuses we look out for are odds boosts, free bets and insurance. You may have heard of acca insurance, where you get your money back if one leg lets you down. Bet builder insurance isn't as common yet - but some sites do provide it, namely QuinnBet and 888Sport.

Best Football Bet Builders

Bet builders were the latest spin-off from football betting when they first burst onto the scene, offering far more markets and greater flexibility than same-game accumulators. Football is still the sport most strongly associated with bet builders and as a minimum, nearly every online bookmaker will offer bet builders on the beautiful game in some form or another.

It's no coincidence that bet builders have gained traction during a time of increased popularity for fantasy sports. In the United States, bet builders, or same-game parlays as they are better known stateside, for American football and basketball have become a must for bookies due to their crossover with fantasy sports.

Punters have shown a similar thirst for player props in the UK when it comes to bet builders and the best betting sites stand out by offering a good range of markets for those statistical wagers as part of their bet builder feature.

Having plenty of choice when it comes to bet builder markets was one of our top priorities when deciding which betting sites offer the best football bet builder, along with regular promotions, competitive odds and in-play betting.

Punters will have their own view on which of those attributes is the most important. For those seeking a vast array of markets, it's tough to do much better than bet365, who have the most varied range of player-related betting options.

For offers, Betfred frequently offer bet boosts on their PickYourPunt pre-selected options, while there are money back promotions available on the biggest domestic and international fixtures.

When it comes to odds, BoyleSports are highly competitive and while they don't have the greatest range of markets, they are rarely beaten on price on the odds they do have.

How Do Multi-Match Bet Builders Work?

A multi-match bet builder is a relatively new bet type where you can create custom bets by combining a range of selections from different matches into a single.

Where a traditional accumulator is made up of a limited range of markets, a multi-match bet builder gives you access to a much wider range of individual markets. For example, you could combine these markets from six different matches:

  • Over 10.5 corners from Match 1
  • Over 5.5 cards from Match 2
  • First goalscorer from Match 3
  • Anytime goalscorer from Match 4
  • Red card for a player from Match 5
  • Yellow card for a player from Match 6

As this is a recent innovation, we're keeping an eye on bookies to see which ones add multi-match bet builders as an option in the coming months.

Which Sports Can You Place Bet Builders on?

Slowly but surely, bookmakers are offering the bet builder feature on more and more sports. But it's far from blanket coverage and at the moment – these are the sports that most commonly come with a bet builder option:

  • Football: Most football betting sites now have a bet builder feature. You can combine selections like match result, total goals and correct score. You can also bet on team and player stats like number of corners, shots on target, number of successful passes and total cards.
  • Tennis: Not all tennis betting sites have a bet builder option, but those that do tend to have a wide variety of markets and many more bookmakers will offer bet builders during the grand slam events. Some examples of the markets available are match result, overall number of games, set scores, number of aces and breaks of serve.
  • Rugby: Same-game multis are slowly creeping into online rugby betting in both league and union codes. Markets such as winning points margin, race to 10 points, highest scoring half and handicap result can be combined here.
  • Basketball: NBA betting sites have lots of bet builder options for the world's most popular basketball league, but you'll also find them available for competitions like the EuroLeague, Olympics and FIBA World Championship. Handicap markets, totals and player stats are among the options that can all be combined.
  • American Football: Known as 'same-game parlays' in the US, American football bet builders are hugely popular with NFL bettors in the UK too. NFL betting sites have the option to combine match market and individual player props like rushing yards, passing yards, sacks, tackles, interceptions and touchdowns.

Bet Builder Strategy Tips

There's plenty to consider when placing a bet builder given how many combinations of markets you can have. Whether you are using a pre-fabricated bet builder put up by the bookie or trying to craft your own winning selections, here are a few bet builder tips to consider when placing a bet.

  • Player Stats: Do your research into the statistics when looking up player-specific markets. There's no shortage of databases to use for in-depth player stats, particularly for football, basketball and American football.
  • Game Script: In matches where a team must win, they may push forward more and throw caution to the wind, potentially leading to a greater number of goals, points or attacking scenarios.
  • Previous Head-to-Heads: History is a good indicator of what we can expect in the future. If a fixture is usually high-scoring, lean towards the overs markets when putting together your bet builder. But make sure you weigh up a fixture's history with how the teams are playing now as things can move quickly in sport.
  • Combination Bets: In football matches with a clear favourite, combine a likely goalscorer from the favoured team with another event, like over 2.5 goals. This leverages both the team's overall strength and individual player form.
  • Star Player Performance: In basketball bet builders, combine a star player's points with rebounds and assists (often called a PRA bet). If he's expected to dominate, all three stats should be high.
  • Field Goals vs Touchdowns: In American football games with strong defences and weaker offences, consider betting on more field goals than touchdowns, or vice-versa if both sides are weak on the defensive side of the ball.
  • Turnovers & Defensive Scores: Another American football consideration. If a team has a turnover-prone quarter-back, combine bets on him throwing an interception with the opposing defence scoring a touchdown, which usually carry big odds.
  • Lengthy Matches: In tennis, when you have two players known for playing out long matches, you could combine an over bet on total games with both players to win at least one set.
  • First-Serves: Again, when betting on tennis, combine a player's first-serve percentage with the match market. If a player's success heavily relies on their first-serve landing, this combo makes sense when they're in form. However, be mindful that not all betting sites with bet builder products give punters the option to build bets on tennis.

Request a Bet vs Bet Builder

A bet builder function allows you to combine a bookmaker’s markets to create your same-game multis. However, you can only bet on the odds the betting site lists.

With request a bet, you get in touch with the bookmaker directly to ask for a price for your own bet. Some betting sites give you a price instantly, but you may have to wait for their oddsmakers to price up your custom market in other cases.

As with bet builders, you can only request a bet on sports the bookmaker supports.

The popularity of the request a bet feature has diminished as the best betting sites for bet builders have become more sophisticated, particularly since punters became able to combine selections from different events into the same bet builder.

Some bookmakers no longer take requests, with Betway one of those to pull the plug on the product.

However, there are still those that offer a request a bet service. The most common way to request a bet is through social media. Many betting operators allow you to use platforms like X, formerly Twitter, to ask for a price using a designated hashtag.

Some bookmakers also allow you to request bets through customer support live chat or email. You'll often see requested bets from other customers listed among the markets for a match or event.

The Final Verdict: Bet Builder Sites

Bet builders have evolved very quickly in a short space of time, and there's no sign of their development slowing down any time soon. Bet builder sites have increased in number dramatically and that can only be a good thing for punters with more competition pushing bookies to improve the product.
