Saints @ Packers Pick: Easy Street For Packers

Last week, the Green Bay Packers beat the Seattle Seahawks by 17 points. This is significant only because the Packers have done that four times in 2024. 

The NFL has had so many one-possession games so often, especially earlier in the season with so many teams winning as significant underdogs.

Buffalo was favoured by two touchdowns over New England, but won by just three points.

The Packers gets the same treatment at home to the Saints, who will be without its starting quarterback Derek Carr. Carr has a hand injury and is also in concussion protocol.  

Expect some lingering snow showers or flurries, but nothing that will impact the game too much. Under interim head coach Darren Rizzi, the Saints have played better defensively, especially at home. 

The difference is going into the cold on the road and The Panel are backing the Packers to win comfortably.

The Packers throw the ball more than most teams in colder weather, because they are used to practising in it. 

However, Josh Jacobs continues to get carries, and lots of them. Last week, he ran 26 times for 94 yards in Green Bay's 30-13 win in Seattle. 

This week, he faces the 30th-ranked rushing defense of the Saints, who allow 4.9 yards per carry.

The Packers running back has only run for 100 yards three times in 2024. However, if he is handed the ball 20 to 25 times, the chances are higher that he reaches the century mark.

Saints @ Packers Preview: Saints Ain't Posting A Big Score 

The Packers have been one of the favourites for bettors in recent weeks, especially with their trend of not giving up many points. 

Matt LaFleur's team have yielded 19 points or fewer in four of their past five contests, and only 13 last week in Seattle. New Orleans enters this game with Spencer Rattler at quarterback.

Rattler is 0-3 in his three starts and the Saints have seen decreasing returns in each appearance. 

Alvin Kamara can only run the ball so much and the rookie is going up against the eighth-ranked defense in the NFL in terms of points allowed.

Green Bay can stack the box as the Saints’ injury list grows. Being without a few of their top receivers does not help either, as the Packers are focused on trying to catch Detroit and Minnesota in the NFC North.
