Tuesday's Horse Racing Tips: James Boyle's Best Bets At Lingfield & Newcastle
For today's horse racing tips, our analyst James Boyle looks at the all-weather racing meetings at Lingfield and Newcastle, with three selections now online.
As always, you’ll find the most up-to-date odds at the best horse racing betting sites, but our tipster’s predictions are researched early in the day and those prices could soon be moved in by the betting public. Odds stated are correct at the time of publishing.
13:57 Lingfield – Pjanoo – 1pt @ 4/1
Pjanoo has taken well to blinkers and could have a solid chance to gain a first win in them here. Despite not scoring since they went on, his last three efforts on the All-Weather have been as good as anything produced before and he was only a neck behind Hat Toss last time.
It looked like he was going to score that day and he traded as low as 1.02 in-running, but he did much more early running than two finishers who got by him late on. That may not be as likely to happen on Lingfield’s track and hopefully he’ll cope with the nature of it.
The draw is fine and based on the likely pace setup, being up in the first or second wave may be the position of advantage. Claims can easily be made for five or six of these, but there’s lots in place for Pjanoo and I’ll be disappointed if he’s not in there pitching up the straight.
17:00 Newcastle – HK Fourteen – 1pt @ 11/4
I started off wanting to oppose HK Fourteen as low-level handicappers who have already ran up a sequence are rarely of much interest to me and he was defeated last time. However, the more I look through the opposition, the more appealing Tony Carroll’s charge becomes.
At Southwell, finishing a few lengths behind the reopposing Glendown was disappointing, but the plan was to take a lead regardless of what was going on with the speed and he ended up racing on the wrong part of the track in the straight. I wouldn’t think that was his true form.
He brought up a hat-trick of wins before that and two of them came at this track. Getting onto a stiffer 6f will do no harm whatsoever and Luke Morris taking over from an apprentice can help as well. With a more aggressive ride, he should be doing better this time around.
17:30 Newcastle – Holy Fire – 1pt @ 3/1
Holy Fire doesn’t have the best winning record, being 1-17 overall, but the handicapper is giving her every chance and this will be the first time she has raced against fillies over 7f. It should help and all bar one of her last ten outings have been against the colts and geldings.
She seemed to need her penultimate start when easy to back over 6f at Southwell, then was a lot better at this trip around Wolverhampton. She had a good position but the speed didn’t really stop and it’s possible she’ll strip fitter for having had that outing as well.
It will be interesting to see how a stiffer test at 7f works out and whilst there’s no definite proof that she will like it, I expect that she will. 3/1 is far from mind-blowing but she has more talent than the favourite and if all things were equal, she’d be very hard to beat.
