Throughout the season, Manchester United and Celtic legend Brian McClair will be giving his predictions for every Premier League game.

In four seasons at Celtic, McClair made 471 appearances in all competitions and scored 127 goals, securing the Scottish Premier League and Scottish FA Cup while finishing as top-scorer for the Hoops on four occasions.

His prolific goalscoring record quickly attracted the attention of clubs south of the border and in 1987, McClair became Alex Ferguson's first signing at Manchester United, going on to win four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and the European Cup Winners' Cup in his 11 years at Old Trafford.

Brighton Vs Arsenal, Saturday, 5.30pm

Arsenal travel to Brighton with renewed optimism in the Premier League title race.

Despite Liverpool leading the table, Arsenal’s 3-1 win over Brentford on New Year’s Day narrowed the gap to six points, though Liverpool still have a game in hand.

With half of the season remaining, Mikel Arteta’s team must maintain near-perfect form to challenge Liverpool, leaving no room for error.

Brighton, meanwhile, have faltered after a strong start to their campaign and now sit 10th after no wins in their last seven games.

Brian says: “Arsenal have had a terrific 2024, gaining more points than any other team with 85.

“What’s more, the 89 goals they have scored is the most in a calendar year since 1963.

“After a decent looking start Brighton are winless in their last seven games and I can’t see anything other than an away win here.”

Liverpool Vs Man Utd, Sunday, 4.30pm

Premier League leaders Liverpool probably can't wait for Sunday’s clash with Manchester United.

Arne Slot’s team delivered another dominant display last week, thrashing West Ham 5-0, maintaining a commanding lead in the title race as they seemingly cruise towards a 20th league title.

Meanwhile, Manchester United’s struggles continue. 

They were fortunate to lose only 2-0 to Newcastle on Monday and manager Ruben Amorim has acknowledged the looming threat of a relegation battle for his side.

Brian says: "United finished 2024 in 14th place, the worst position going into a new year since the Premier League began.

"In their last eight visits to Anfield, United have scored just one goal and haven't scored any in their last five.

"In Liverpool's last game at West Ham they had 22 attempts, 13 on target and scored five goals, so everyone will be going for a home win, surely, but I fancy a draw!"
