Punchestown Tips: Betting Picks For Day 4 At The Festival
Punchestown Day 4 Tips:
- 16.15 - Adamantly Chosen - 7/1 with Bet365
- 19.10 - Night Sparkle - 16/1 with BetVictor
- 19.45 - Walk Away Harry - 17/2 with William Hill
It’s Day Four of the Punchestown Racing Festival and Friday boasts another evening of top-class horse racing.
The festival attracts some of the finest equine talent from Ireland and beyond, making for thrilling and fiercely competitive races, and today is no different.
From the excitement of the Novice Handicap Chase to the drama of the International Novice Hurdle, Day Four is sure to provide plenty of thrills and spills for racing fans and betting sites alike.
We have three selections to consider for Friday’s races with our thought process outlined below.
4.15 - EMS Copiers Novice Handicap Chase - Adamantly Chosen
Willie Mullins has won six of the last seven renewals of this race and the Closutton maestro is responsible for the top three in the weights this time around.
Kilcruit, winner of three of his four starts at Punchestown, is the one punters want to be with but Adamantly Chosen has run some of his best races at this venue and although he is more exposed over fences than his stablemate, he finished a good way in front of Kilcruit when second in the Grade 1 Ladbrokes Novice Chase at the Dublin Racing Festival.
The selection struggles to jump out of soft ground but there is absolutely nothing wrong with his fencing when he gets on to drier ground. Providing conditions don’t deteriorate too much (there is some rain forecast on Friday) then he should be able to show what he can do.
Adamantly Chosen has won two of his three starts at Punchestown and three of the last four winners of this race carried top weight, so he should give Jack Foley a really good spin. He’s available at a good price with several betting apps.
7.10 - SalesSense International Novice Hurdle - Night Sparkle
Another race that has basically been a Willie Mullins benefit in recent years but although new recruit So Majeste has bundles of potential, the form of his Auteuil win from last year hasn’t exactly worked out well.
Stablemate Uncle Phil needs to improve while Arctic Bresil would be appealing if the De Bromhead horses were in better form.
The most appealing option then is Night Sparkle who showed ability on the Flat for the Crisfords and there was plenty to like about the way she moved on hurdles debut before a blunder at the last cost checked her momentum.
A strong stayer on the Flat, connections won’t want this being run at a dawdle so expect the daughter of Postponed to go forward under Danny Mullins and she might just prove tough to peg back.
You’ll find a best price of 16/1 on a number of horse racing betting sites.
7.45 - Avison Young INH Flat Race - Walk Away Harry
A wide-open finale on paper but Charles Byrnes won this race 12 months ago and he might just be able to repeat the trick with Walk Away Harry who looks to have a bright future given his promising debut second (dead-heated) at Clonmel earlier this month.
The son of Walk In The Park finished that race strongly from off the pace despite going off an unconsidered 18/1 chance and it’s no surprise that connections have opted to step him up slightly in trip given the way he came home.
Most of his siblings wanted a stamina test so it’s likely he’ll be stretching out further when he switches to obstacles next season, but they should go a decent gallop in this big-field contest and Walk Away Harry will be a major threat if he’s within striking distance off the home turn.
Keep up to date with the latest Punchestown offers to find the best odds.
