In four seasons at Celtic, McClair made 471 appearances in all competitions and scored 127 goals, securing the Scottish Premier League and Scottish FA Cup while finishing as top-scorer for the Hoops on four occasions.

His prolific goalscoring record quickly attracted the attention of clubs south of the border and in 1987, McClair became Alex Ferguson's first signing at Manchester United, going on to win four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and the European Cup Winners' Cup in his 11 years at Old Trafford.

Monday night's game sees Newcastle travel to Old Trafford to face Manchester United in a clash of two teams in contrasting form.

Ruben Amorim's difficulties persisted as his side suffered a third consecutive league loss, going down 2-0 to Wolves on Boxing Day.

That result leaves the Red Devils in 14th, eight points above the relegation places.

In contrast, Newcastle secured an impressive 3-0 victory over Aston Villa at St. James’ Park.

That result made it three consecutive league win for Eddie Howe's side who have now moved up to fifth in the table.
