One of TV's most brutal star-studded shows returned for a new series on Sunday night.

Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins is back for a sixth run, and the first two episodes - which aired on Sunday and Monday - have mixed things up on UK betting sites.

The Channel 4 programme sees 15 celebrities from the world of entertainment, sport and journalism brave winter warfare training in the south islands of New Zealand, with the aim of passing this unique version of Special Forces selection.

The hellish eight-day course, which is run by four intimidating ex-Special Forces soldiers - Chief Instructor Billy Billingham and his team of Directing Staff (DS), Foxy (Jason Fox), Rudy Reyes and Chris Oliver - has been billed as the toughest yet, and it sees the stars come up against Special Forces training environments used to prepare the UK military for winter warfare operations.

Episode one was aptly-titled Discomfort, and that could be used to sum up John Barrowman's time on the programme.

The Doctor Who actor voluntarily withdrew after just 32 mins on the base, leaving 14 stars remaining.

Wicks Channels His Inner Bolt

One of the most impressive recruits of the series so far is TOWIE star Pete Wicks.

He is no stranger to the show after previously taking part in series four - which was based in Jordan - but he had to be medically withdrawn when he knocked himself unconscious while jumping from a helicopter.

But the Strictly Come Dancing contestant has made a strong start to his second stint on Celebrity SAS.

In episode one, the stars had to take part in a hostage rescue mission, and Wicks was among the six recruits who passed.

And in episode two, which was entitled Discipline, the celebrities had to do a frightening forward abseil down a 300-foot working dam.

The DS joked Wicks resembled 100m sprinter Usain Bolt as he raced down the dam, and he is now into 7/4 on betting apps to pass the course.

Simpson Traumatised

On the flip side, Marnie Simpson has struggled in the opening two episodes.

Simpson admitted day one had been "traumatising" and at one stage she wanted to go home, but the Geordie Shore star appeared to feel better after an interrogation session with the DS.

In the session, the DS said Simpson looked "miserable, fed up and moaning" during the run down the dam, but she hasn't withdrawn yet.

Simpson is 1/5 favourite on specials betting sites to be the next recruit to quit the show, and she is a massive 33/1 to upset the odds and pass the course.

Former England rugby player Chris Robshaw remains the 13/8 favourite to pass the course, and others in contention include DJ and reality TV star Bianca Gascoigne (15/8), and former Love Island stars Georgia Harrison (5/1) and Ovie Soko (9/2).

Olympic gymnast Ellie Downie is just 3/1, and she impressed the DS in the first challenge of the series.

It saw the shocked celebrities forced to traverse a Trainasium - parallel metal bars which were suspended 335ft in the air - and only Downie managed it.

That meant the other recruits had to do a punishment.

After the initial challenge, the DS ranked all then-15 stars based on patheticness.

Downie was chosen as the "least pathetic", while TOWIE star Bobby Norris was viewed as the "most pathetic".

A Bridge Too Far

The DS didn't get a great first impression of Norris, as he was in tears before even attempting the Trainasium crossing.

They called him a "jelly head" when he couldn't move forward to cross, and the reality TV star was given a fail without even getting on the bridge.

Later in episode one, Norris was car sick en route to the base, where the recruits were ranked.

In Monday's second episode, Norris initially redeemed himself from his Sunday night antics, but he then failed the terrifying backwards dive in the dark challenge.

He is into Evens on new betting sites, from 5/1, to exit the process next, and has drifted to 20/1 to pass the course.

The DS were initially impressed with journalist Rachel Johnson - whose brother is former Prime Minister Boris Johnson - after the first challenge.

However, Johnson - who is 6/1 to pass the course, from 7/1 last week - failed the hostage rescue, as did Norris and several others.
