Who Will Replace Gregg Wallace On MasterChef?

Gregg Wallace has co-hosted BBC cookery show MasterChef alongside John Torode since 2005, but he recently stepped away from the coveted position while allegations of historical misconduct by individuals are investigated.

Amid the investigation by the show’s production firm Banijay UK, Wallace has denied any wrongdoing and he is "committed to fully co-operating throughout the process".

However, there has been speculation on betting sites about who might replace Wallace on the show, should he find himself on the chopping block.

Grace To Replace?

Food critic and former I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! star Grace Dent has always been seen as a strong contender to step in for Wallaceif required - and she is now the frontrunner for the role.

A TV source told The Sun on Sunday newspaper: "Grace is the perfect choice to replace Wallace on MasterChef.

"She’s knowledgeable about food and opinionated, plus it’s great to have a woman as a judge on the show. It will shake things up and give the series the boost it needs after such an upsetting and uncertain time.

"She is already a fan favourite and has won lots of respect in the foodie world thanks to her no-nonsense style and sense of humour."

Grace is expected to form a new MasterChef presenting double act with John.

The source added: "Bosses love her already, know she is a safe pair of hands and trust her to help steer the ship with John to steadier waters."

Following the report, Grace is now 4/5 favourite to land the role and she has leapfrogged John's wife Lisa Faulkner (13/8) and celebrity chef Nigella Lawson (7/4) in the market.

Grace often appears as an additional Celebrity MasterChef judge, who sets the contestants a special challenge and she would surely be seen as a safe pair of hands to fill in for Wallace.

Shock Contender Snoop

If the BBC are looking to spring a MasterChef surprise, then they could do far worse than ask US rapper Snoop Dogg to step in for Wallace.

The Drop It Like It's Hot hitmaker has emerged as a shock contender - and he's more than up for it.

He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "You better believe Snoop could be the new MasterChef judge.

"My boy Gordon [Ramsay] judges on the US version of the show and I know he would back me to be able to judge on the UK version.

"He knows I am not playing when it comes to food. He knows I can cook - I have even given him some tips.

"I hosted a cooking show over here [Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party] and I have always been vocal about wanting to work on a UK show.

"I love the place - and for real, this could be the perfect opportunity."

Snoop is a 7/2 chance to join MasterChef, just behind MasterChef: The Professionals pair Monica Galetti (5/2) and Marcus Wareing (3/1).

Swash To End Up On MasterChef?

Another surprise appointment would see former EastEnders actor Joe Swash - the husband of Stacey Solomon - land the job.

Joe is no stranger to Celebrity MasterChef, after making the final of the star-studded show in 2021 and he has now put his cookery hat in the ring to co-host the programme.

The actor recently took to Instagram to share a story about the likes of Lisa and Nigella being in contention to replace Wallace, and he wrote: "AND WHAT ABOUT ME!! I CAN COOK [laughing emoji (sic)"

Joe is a 7/1 chance, but several more established cooks are in front of him in the market, including the likes of Tom Kerridge (4/1), James Martin (5/1) and Snoop's pal Gordon Ramsay (11/2).

There has been speculation that MasterChef itself could be facing the chop, after the BBC recently confirmed two Christmas specials, which were due to air on BBC One later this month, have been shelved amid the investigation.

It's just 10/11 that MasterChef, which originally ran from 1990 to 2001, before being relaunched in 2005 when the pair landed co-hosting roles, will be axed as early as this year.

But it is even shorter, at just 4/6 on betting apps, that the show is given the boot next year.

Despite Wallace being accused of inappropriate sexual comments, his lawyers have said: "It is entirely false that he engages in behaviour of a sexually harassing nature."
