Gavin And Stacey Finale: Fishing Trip Reveal More Likely; Is This The End?
Gavin & Stacey: The Finale has been confirmed for top Christmas Day billing, and the show will bow out with a 90-minute special.
That's plenty of time to answer several questions fans have from the last time we saw the Shipmans and the Wests five years ago when Nessa went down on one knee to ask Smithy to marry her.
It's just 1/4 on betting sites that James Corden's character Smithy accepts Nessa's (Ruth Jones) proposal when we next meet the Barry Island and Essex locals on Christmas Day.
Will Smithy Accept Nessa's Proposal Odds
Yes | 1/4 | 80% |
No | 4/1 | 20% |
In the special, main characters Gavin and Stacey Shipman (Mathew Horne and Joanna Page) are looking for ways to spice up their 17-year marriage, and Uncle Bryn (Rob Brydon) is prepping for a trip to Essex.
What's more, there have been some clues that we may find out exactly what happened on that controversial fishing trip.
Fishing Trip Reveal
Robert Wilfort, who plays Stacey's brother Jason West in the BBC comedy, has dropped a huge hint that fans will at least find out a bit more about Jason and Uncle Bryn's fishy jaunt.
He told Radio Times magazine: "Almost invariably. People have their own versions of what they think happened. It's the great mystery of Gavin & Stacey!
"You never quite get to find out what happened...but I can't say any more, because it's possible you'll learn something if you watch the finale."

While Robert has appeared to hint that fans won't find out exactly what happened on the mystery jaunt, viewers shouldn't give up hope just yet.
It would be unusual for him to give up such information just a month before the episode is broadcast.
Following Robert's comments, it's now just 8/11, from 6/4, that viewers do find out what happened on the fishing trip.
Blunt's Cameo Chance
Following confirmation that Bryn is to drive down to Essex in the finale, that could give him an increased chance of meeting his hero - the one and only James Blunt.
The singer-songwriter himself is just 4/9 to make a cameo in the finale, and it's 1/2 that fellow singer Noel Sullivan appears.
One way Blunt or Sullivan could feature is as wedding singers at Nessa and Smithy's potential nuptials.

What's more, Corden may have called upon some of his famous pals to film cameo roles in the show's last-ever episode.
Former England football captain David Beckham - who is good friends with the former Late Late Show host - is 8/15 for a Gavin & Stacey finale cameo, and it's just 2/1 that Harry Styles, another of Corden's pals, rocks up in Barry or Essex on Christmas Day.
Other potential celebrity cameos include Charlotte Church.
The Welsh singer is 9/4 to head down to Barry for a surprise appearance, while former Welsh rugby player Gareth Thomas is just Evens.
Lamb's Episode Hint
While this has been widely billed as the last-ever Gavin & Stacey episode, Larry Lamb - who plays Gavin's dad Mick Shipman - has dropped a huge hint that the show won't ever be killed off.
When asked if there could be more, he told Radio Times magazine: "Never say never. Having waited all those years, answering people's questions about if there's ever going to be another one.
"And then having to answer the same question when we'd done another one, I was surprised but not shocked. And I don't think the BBC will ever kill the goose that laid the golden egg."
It's just 10/11 on betting apps that there will be another episode of Gavin & Stacey one day, but Lamb admitted it may not include all the current cast.

Speaking about filming the upcoming 90-minute special, he said: "I didn't feel emotional until we started heading towards the end of the shoot. Then you realise, well, this is very likely the last time that we all get together."
Larry's comments come after James - who co-wrote the show with Ruth - recently hinted there could be a death in the upcoming finale.
It's just 4/6 for a character to pass in the Christmas special, and Uncle Bryn is the Evens favourite to meet his maker, followed by Smithy's mum Cath Smith (11/8).
Other potentials include Smithy's sister Rudi Smith, who is just 2/1, while Jason is a 3/1 chance to pass on.
