Gavin And Stacey Finale: James Corden Hints At Deaths In Last Episode
Filming has finished on the Gavin & Stacey finale, but speculation about the show's last-ever episode hasn't gone away.
Millions will sit down in front of their TVs on Christmas Day to see whether Smithy (James Corden) accepts Nessa's (Ruth Jones) proposal, and it's 1/4 on betting sites that he does, following the cliff-hanger moment at the end of the last episode in 2019.

Since then, co-creators Corden and Jones have confirmed this upcoming episode will be the show's last, and the former Late Late Show host has admitted it is going to be an "emotional" ep, and he has even hinted at a beloved character death.
He recently told the Sunday Mirror newspaper: "What we were editing today was a very moving and emotional scene at Bryn’s funeral. I’m joking, I promise ...Or am I?"
Corden has previously said the finale episode will be "hard to watch", and also added: "But was there a funeral? Maybe. Maybe not!"
If the old "there's no smoke without fire" adage is to be believed then it looks like there could be a death in the finale - but which character will meet their maker?

Following Corden's recent comments, loveable Uncle Bryn - who is perfectly portrayed by Rob Brydon - is the Evens favourite on betting apps to depart to the other side on Christmas Day.
And Corden's recent comment isn't the first time one of the co-creators has discussed a potential character death for the finale.
In June, Jones was speaking to Brydon on his Brydon And...podcast about fans asking for show spoilers, and she said: "I go to them, 'Do you seriously want me to tell you what’s going to happen in the Christmas Special?' And they go, 'Yes!'
"And I go, 'But you don’t, because what happens on Christmas Day when you come to watch it, you’ll know what’s going to happen.' And they go, 'Please tell me'.
"So, I go, 'There’s going to be a helicopter crash, most of the cast are going to get killed', and I just make stuff up!"
What's more, Alison Steadman - who plays Gavin's mother Pam Shipman - has also said the finale was "emotional". She said on The One Show: "We were all scared of that final scene. I think 90 per cent of us were in tears, some people braved it – it was so fantastic."

Minor Character To Go?
While it would be completely devastating to fans if the likes of Gavin's mum Pam (10/1) or dad Mick Shipman (10/1) were to die in the finale, it looks unlikely.
And it's a massive 33/1 on specials betting sites that any of the main four characters, Gavin and Stacey Shipman, or Smithy and Nessa, pass away on Christmas Day.
If there is to be a finale death then it looks far more likely that a minor character meets their maker.
Smithy's mum, Cath Smith, didn't look in great health the last time we saw her, and she is just 11/8 to die, while it's just 13/8 that Nessa's dad, Neil Jenkins, passes away.
Another potential plot could see Smithy's sister Rudi Smith depart.

It's just 1/3 that Sheridan Smith reprises her role as Rudi, and 2/1 that Rudi dies over the festive period.
While it is 4/6 that there will be a death in the finale, it is 6/4 that everyone survives.
It is a comedy at Christmas after all, so a passing in the last-ever episode would surely bring the mood down somewhat.
Having said that, Corden and Jones are such brilliant writers they will no doubt find a way of injecting some humour into such a sad situation if it does come to pass.
James Blunt's Funeral Tune
If Uncle Bryn does tragically pass away in the finale then he could be honoured at his funeral by one of his heroes - James Blunt.
The character is a huge fan of the You're Beautiful singer, and it would be fitting if he were to sing at the wake.
Blunt is just 4/9 to make a cameo in the final episode, but he could take part for happier reasons - as a wedding singer at Nessa and Smithy's nuptials.

However, if there was a huge shock and Nessa was to pass away then some of her long-time pals would no doubt return for the funeral.
Nessa has claimed to have previously been in a relationship with former deputy prime minister John Prescott, who is 1/2 to make a return to the series.
The 'Noel' in the middle name of Nessa and Smithy's son - Neil Noel Edmond Smith - is named after her pop star pal Noel Sullivan, rather than ex-Deal or No Deal presenter Noel Edmonds.
Sullivan is also 1/2 to make a return for the finale, while former England football captain David Beckham - who is good friends with Corden - is 8/15 for a Gavin & Stacey finale cameo.
