Glastonbury Odds: Who Will Headline the 2023 Glasto Festival?
Betting sites reckon the Arctic Monkeys are odds-on to headline Glastonbury 2023 following the success of their album The Car.
More than 140,000 tickets have already been sold for Glastonbury, and with a festival capacity of 210,000 there are still chances for fans to get access to the biggest show on earth.
The Glastonbury headline act is always a topic of debate. Over the years the likes of David Bowie, The Smiths, Oasis, Beyonce and Sir Paul McCartney have headlined Glastonbury.
And 2023 is expected to mark a return to the Pyramid Stage for Arctic Monkeys, who headlined the festival in 2007 along with The Killers and The Who in front of 135,000 people.
But who are the other contenders to headline Glastonbury next summer, and could the bookies be wrong about their short odds on Alex Turner and Co?
Glastonbury 2023 Headline Act Betting
Arctic Monkeys
Betting apps were quick to throw Arctic Monkeys into top spot as soon as their album The Car landed.
Its huge success after a five-year wait for a new album is a marker of the band’s longevity, and they’re almost certain to be on the Pyramid Stage come June.
At odds of 1/5, UK bookmakers reckon the Monkeys have an 83% chance of topping the bill.
Those odds have actually gone out from a 1/20 mark in October, yet still represent clear favourite status.
Guns N’ Roses
Axl Rose and his group have never headlined Glastonbury, which is practically the only festival remaining that they’ve been denied the main stage.
Guns N Roses are still going strong after nearly 40 years together and they’re close to finishing their latest tour, which ends in New Zealand this December.
That tour - disappointingly named Guns N' Roses 2020 Tour - has reignited people’s love for this band.
They’ve a set list ready to go and know how to rock a crowd, so who wouldn’t want to see them on the Glasto stage? At 4/6 they’re steady second favourites.
Elton John
Another act currently on tour, Sir Elton John is midway through the globe-trotting Farewell Yellow Brick Road.
It all ends in Europe next July, and Sir Elton appears to have left a window in his calendar for Glastonbury.
Will we see the Rocket Man star rock up on the Pyramid Stage? New betting sites have edged his odds out to 4/5 recently, but he’s still a fair shout.
Eminem
A millennial’s dream act, is Eminem about to rock up in this pocket of Somerset? Perhaps.
It was reported in October that the rapper was in talks over headlining the festival next summer, and bookmakers have made him the 6/4 fourth favourite to top the bill.
Eminem, 50, performed at the Super Bowl in February but isn’t touring right now. He could be parachuted in as a big international name, but it seems unlikely.
Harry Styles
Harry's House was released in May 2022 to critical acclaim and has certainly helped legitimise Harry Styles’ solo career.
But can he hold sway at Glastonbury? Possibly. After all, Styles has been nominated for three Grammys and a Mercury Prize.
Bookmakers still think this is a long-shot though. At 2/1 on specials betting sites Styles is by no means out of the running to headline Glastonbury.
He’s due to be performing in Germany on the Sunday of Glastonbury, but that’s the Legends’ slot. So perhaps he’s kept Friday and Saturday free for a big appearance.
When is the Glastonbury 2023 headline announced?
We won’t know the 2023 Glastonbury headline act until March of next year.
The festival organisers have revealed plenty of acts who will be gracing the festival this summer, but the headliners remain a closely-guarded secret.
Rumours began circulating that the Arctic Monkeys would top the bill upon the successful release of their latest album.
Practically overnight they shot to the top of the odds, and haven’t budged since.
The release of the Glastonbury headline act is always a tense time for festival-goers.
After all, who wants to spend £340 on a ticket only to be told a band they don’t like is topping the bill?
Thankfully there are hundreds of acts to enjoy at Glastonbury, so even if the headline isn’t your thing there’s plenty of other stuff to keep you occupied.
This must have come as a relief for those who bought tickets the year Moby headlined the festival.
