18:00 Kempton – Marchetti – 1pt @ 13/2

Marchetti could be worth chancing now that she’s taken out of handicaps and drops into a classified contest. She’s 0-23 so that says plenty, but it’s only two runs since she finished second at Lingfield and her sole start since couldn’t have panned out much worse (wide, hampered, didn’t get a clear run).

She has run well at this track before so switching over here shouldn’t be a problem and Rossa Ryan is an encouraging jockey booking. At this level, the Jimmy Fox’s charge must have a chance of being heavily involved in the closing stages and 13/2 seems fair enough to me.

18:30 Kempton – Ring Of Gold – 1pt @ 9/2

Ring Of Gold has been in brilliant form in recent months and won over C&D three starts ago to bring his course record to 2-1-1. It was quite a comfortable success, one made all the more impressive by the fact that he entered the straight in last place. 

The runner-up scored since so there’s nothing wrong with the form and Ring Of Gold performed at least as well in defeat at Southwell last time, not appreciating the slower gallop but still running a cracker to finish second. If he can post a similar figure here, he will be hard to beat if the predicted strong pace materialises.

20:00 Kempton – Berkshire Rocco – 1pt @ 11/4

Berkshire Rocco does not have his old powers, powers that led to him only going down by a neck in the 2020 Leger. However, he does seem to be back on the right road following his Southwell success a month ago and that was only his second attempt at two-miles, and his first at a level he could actually compete at! 

He travelled well and responded to pressure when the going got tough, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he has a bit more to offer now that he has found his spark again. A few pounds of improvement will be required to win this but I think he has it in the locker.
