Wrexham Vs Peterborough, Saturday, 3pm
Festive cheer must have been in limited supply at Peterborough United, the Cambridgeshire outfit languishing in 18th position in League One having taken just a solitary point from their four games across the holiday period.
Darren Ferguson's men did at least fight back from 2-0 down to snatch a draw at bottom side Burton on New Year's Day, but that followed defeats to Stockport, Mansfield and Barnsley, fixtures in which Posh managed to notch as many red cards (two) as they did goals.
Injuries and suspensions aren't helping, but nor is a tough schedule which sends them to north Wales to take on high-flying Wrexham.
Third in League One, Phil Parkinson's side might not be the easiest on the eye, but they're sufficiently effective to be filling their atmospheric Racecourse Ground more often than not.
Regular followers will point to a brilliant home record this season, one which sees them undefeated on their own soil in the league, racking up 11 victories and two draws in their 13 games to date.
That record looks more impressive when you consider this is a side who have achieved consecutive promotions in the past two campaigns and, what's more, their victims in 2024/25 include current leaders Wycombe Wanderers.
Granted, Wrexham came unstuck in their opening game of the New Year, going down 2-1 away to a decent Barnsley side in what was their first defeat in nine.
But a return to home comforts should be precisely what they need to keep up the pressure on Wycombe and Birmingham, both of whom are just two points ahead.
Late winners from super sub Steven Fletcher were a feature in both Wrexham's home successes between Christmas and New Year, but in their current vein of form it's debatable whether Peterborough will make them work as hard for the three points.
At 7/10 with football betting sites it's Wrexham who get the vote as leg one of this weekend's EFL double.

Doncaster Vs Port Vale, Saturday, 3pm
We'll head to League Two for the second component of this weekend's wager, where one of the key questions is what on earth has happened to Port Vale's goal supply?
Similar to your correspondent on a Christmas night out, Vale find themselves almost completely unable to score.
Jokes aside, boss Darren Moore must be feeling the heat after a miserable 10-game sequence in which his previously buoyant side have found the net just four times, dropping from first to fifth with barely a whimper.
Eight points from a possible 30 have been the net result, hardly the form of a team who only a matter of weeks ago were being touted as automatic promotion hopefuls.
Next up for them comes an away day against one of those clubs which have benefited from their slump, with Doncaster Rovers now the nearest pursuer to clear leaders Walsall.
Notably, Vale and Doncaster have already met this season, Rovers edging a five-goal affair to win 3-2 at Vale Park at the end of August.
Of late they've been in good nick, winning both their most recent home games.
Vale's drought in front of goal presents a great opportunity to make that a hat-trick of victories at their own Eco-Power Stadium and in doing so keep up the pressure on Walsall.
Doncaster Rovers are leg two of this weekend's bet at Evens with betting apps.
