Next €100m Premier League Transfer Odds: Ferguson Favourite For Mega-Bucks Move
The January transfer window is in full swing and betting sites expect plenty of movement before the deadline.
Premier League clubs in particular are prepared to spend big money on new signings, although most major deals tend to happen in the summer rather than the winter.
In 2023, Arsenal splashed out €100m on Declan Rice and Chelsea paid three-figure sums for Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo.
Two years earlier Manchester City made Jack Grealish the first €100m Premier League player.
Who will be the next footballer signed for €100m by an English outfit? Let’s take a look at some of the options.
Attacking Duo Ferguson And Toney On Big Clubs’ Radar
Evan Ferguson is not a guaranteed starter for Brighton & Hove Albion.
At the time of writing, he has kicked-off only 11 of the Seagulls’ 20 Premier League matches, but he has been largely impressive in that time. Still only 19 years of age, Ferguson has a bright future ahead of him.
The Republic of Ireland international is under contract at the Amex Stadium until 2029, but Brighton are always prepared to sell their assets for the right price.
Manchester United and Chelsea have been linked, with Ferguson priced at 6/4 to be the next €100m signing.
Brentford are reportedly demanding that fee for Ivan Toney, who will be available again this weekend after suspension.
However, they are likely to lower their demands in the summer, so one of Toney’s suitors should be able to sign him for two figures. Nevertheless, he is the second favourite at 2/1.
Osimhen And Olise Could Be On The Move This Summer
After winning the Serie A title last term, Napoli are enduring a disappointing season.
Victor Osimhen has clashed with the club and he will surely push for a move away from the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona this summer.
Premier League clubs are bound to be interested. Napoli tend to drive a hard bargain, so a €100m fee for a player with Osimhen’s ability and scoring record is certainly feasible. The Nigeria international is available at 3/1.
Michael Olise (4/1) signed a new contract with Crystal Palace last summer, rejecting an approach from Chelsea in the process.
However, his new deal contains a release clause that is almost certainly less than €100m.
Musiala And Zaire-Emery Will Be Difficult To Acquire
Jamal Musiala is one of the most talented young players on the planet.
An elite dribbler who plays in central areas, the Germany international - who was also eligible to represent England - is also hugely entertaining.
If he was available on the open market, the 20-year-old would command a fee of at least €100m.
But the reason why he is only listed at 5/1 with football betting sites is that Bayern Munich will surely not sell one of their most prized assets.
Similarly, Paris Saint-Germain are unlikely to cash in on Warren Zaire-Emery, who is priced at 11/2.
The precocious 17-year-old is a star in the making and the French giants would be advised to build their team around him, especially if Kylian Mbappe leaves.
Watkins And Udogie Both Enjoying Excellent Seasons
Ollie Watkins has been one of the most productive players in the Premier League so far this season, scoring nine goals and providing eight assists for Aston Villa, who are only two points adrift of top spot following a 0-0 draw with Everton at the weekend.
Villa are an ambitious club and they will be desperate to keep hold of Watkins.
Yet if one of the big-six teams comes calling, the England international may push for a move.
He is available at 8/1 with betting apps to be the next €100m player in the Premier League.
Destiny Udogie has been the standout left-back in the division in 2023/24. Tottenham Hotspur signed the Italian in 2022 and wisely tied him down to an eight-year deal.
Udogie is priced at 10/1, but it is hard to see a full-back being sold for triple figures.
Porro And Eze Among Outsiders In This Market
On the other side of Tottenham’s defence is Pedro Porro, who has been equally impressive this term.
Ange Postecoglou has brought the best out of the Spaniard, whose fantastic set-piece delivery was on full display against Manchester United recently.
Still, as good as Porro has been it is difficult to envisage a club spending €100m on his signature. That is why the right-back is an outsider at 12/1 with new betting sites.
That description also fits Ebere Eze (18/1). The Crystal Palace playmaker may well seek pastures new this summer, but the Eagles are unlikely to get more than around €60m for him.
