Premier League Predictions Gameweek 11 - Brian McClair On The Panel

Brian McClair's Premier League Picks

Throughout the season, Manchester United and Celtic legend Brian McClair will be giving his predictions for every Premier League game.

In four seasons at Celtic, McClair made 204 appearances in all competitions and scored 126 goals, securing the Scottish Premier League and Scottish FA Cup while finishing as top-scorer for the Hoops on four occasions.

His prolific goalscoring record quickly attracted the attention of clubs south of the border and in 1987, McClair became Alex Ferguson's first signing at Manchester United, going on to win four Premier League titles, two FA Cups and the European Cup Winners' Cup in his 11 years at Old Trafford.

Brian joins The Panel for the 2024/25 Premier League season and will pass expert judgement with his score predictions on all games whilst The Panel team will examine the best best betting sites to find the best odds should his predictions hit the back of the net.

Watch him discuss the games below and keep an eye on how Brian and The Panel get on each week this season.

Brighton Vs Man City, Saturday, 5:30pm

Brighton aim to close the gap on the top four with victory over a potentially vulnerable Manchester City team at the Amex Stadium on Saturday.

City enter the match on the back of three consecutive defeats, having been knocked out of the League Cup by Spurs, suffering a Premier League loss to Bournemouth, and enduring a 4-1 defeat to Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Fabian Hurzeler’s Brighton side currently sit eighth in the table, despite a three-match winless streak across all competitions which includes a draw with Wolves, followed by back-to-back losses to Liverpool in both cup and league play.

However, the Seagulls remain just two points off the Champions League places.

Brian says: "It would seem that Pep Guardiola preempted the situation City find themselves in regarding injuries this season, but that's why you have big squads.

"If you look at the game last week against Bournemouth, you wouldn't believe City would have to wait until the 88th minute for their first shot on target.

"It's highly unlikely that City will lose four games in a row, while Brighton will wonder how they managed to lose at Anfield after a good performance in the first half, but I'm going for an away win."

Liverpool Vs Aston Villa, Saturday, 8pm

Liverpool continue to thrive under Arne Slot, having lost just once across all competitions this season and the Reds have strung together three consecutive victories following a 2-2 draw with Arsenal last month.

They defeated Brighton in both the EFL Cup and Premier League before comfortably beating Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League midweek.

Aston Villa are navigating the top-four battle well this season. Despite sitting sixth, Unai Emery’s side are just one point off third place. However, Villa have only one win in their last five league games and were recently beaten 4-1 by Tottenham.

Brian says: “Villa have had a good start to the season and looked good at Spurs in the first half last week, before being completely blown away.

"Liverpool keep winning and probably didn't play at their best when beating Brighton last week, but that's title-winning form to get results when you're not playing well.

"The contract situation situation doesn't seem to be impacting Mo Salah at all at the moment, with seven goals and five assists in his last 10 games, and I fully expect Liverpool to win the game."

Chelsea Vs Arsenal, Sunday, 4:30pm

Arsenal travel to Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon to face Chelsea for the final Premier League fixture of the weekend.

Both sides will be eager to return to winning ways after disappointing results last weekend and are level in the standings, sitting in fourth and fifth respectively, with the Blues only ahead on goal difference.

Arsenal have dominated this fixture in recent years and are unbeaten in the last five games against Chelsea. In those meetings, the Gunners registered four wins, including a thumping 5-0 victory at the Emirates Stadium when they last played back in April.

Brian says: “I think Arsenal are still very much in the title race but they need to win games and this one on Sunday could be problematic.

"They've now gone three games without a win and only had one shot on target in their 1-0 defeat to Newcastle last week.

"Chelsea's continued improvement under Maresca has seen them move above Arsenal into fourth in the Premier League table and I can see this being another tight London derby with the points being shared."

Brian McClair's Panel Pick 3: Chelsea 2-2 Arsenal - 10.00 with Betovo
